4 x 100 ET0 I think? There are other E30 wearing them. Well we sorted the brakes! (well Joe at ARM did) A combination of sticky master cylinder and 2 incorrectly placed servo lines were the problem. The brakes are finally everything I'd hoped they would be and are extremely powerful. They're just about the best brakes I've experienced on an e21 and easily deal with 3 figure speeds. Obviously I would only ever drive that fast on private roads and airfields etc. The issue with the exhaust manifold slightly touching the steering column, under extreme load, is also sorted now. I do need some harder engine mounts though, as the OE ones simply have too much movement in them. Hopefully uprated items should be easy enough to find though. 2 weeks from now and both cars are due to be on the Wheel-Whores stand at Ultimate Stance in Telford.

Well it's oversized spped hump 1, sump 0. Fortunately, I noticed the increasingly large oil slick coming from beneath the E21, as it sat outside the village shop. It's not far to ARM Motorsport (thankfully) and most of it is down hill, so I was able to coast most of the way. As I type the sump is off and being ''big winged'' and baffled, so every cloud and all that.

I've just been catching up with this thread - truly awesome! I wish I had the time/money/patience to build a car up to this standard! Bad luck on the sump - but sounds like you'll be back at it soon enough anyway

Can you ask to get a couple of pictures of the sump whilst it's up in the air please! Also, i notice you're using custom engine mounts - why did you not utilise the 323i M20 OEM mounts?

Yes, when it comes back from being altered, I'll get some pics.
Didn't use 323i mounts as, although they'll fit, the M52 is left sitting at an angle.

New sump is on and it comes back tomorrow. It's having a guard made, using 6mm aluminium sheet, so should hopefully be safe from further damage.

Well everything is back as it should be with the e21 and oil capacity is a healthy 6.5 litres, thanks to the new sump. We ran out of time so the sump guard will have to wait till next week.
Tomorrow I'm off to Telford but want to fit a new DAB head unit before I go.

Sadly a change in my personal circumstances means the E21 is up for sale. Obviously this isn't a decision I have taken lightly and I hope it will go to someone who will appreciate just what has gone into building it. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-E21-M52-2-8-/281847213020?

Well the sump has had to have some more attention, so while we were at it a sump guard seemed the sensible option. There is also some wiring to be done, as the ignition switch developed a fault where it wouldn't kill the engine when turned off. It should be easy enough to sort though and there's a better head unit for the stereo. The exhaust has been replaced, as the one done locally to Pristine was rubbish. Given that they shafted me for £700, I would have hoped for something on par with the rest of the build but I was hugely disappointed.

New owner flies down to collect the E21 tomorrow.
I have to say, I'm gutted it's going but I know it'll be cherished. I would have loved to keep both the E21 and my M3 but simply cannot afford to and I have rent to pay. Yes, I could have sold the M3, but with the way prices are now I would never be able to replace it, unless I won the lottery. So yes, I'll be sad to see the E21 go (and glad it's not going to be local) but I'm still incredibly lucky to have the E30.
I'm now debating whether I should drop a 320bhp S54 engine into the M3 to cheer myself up? Either that or Schrick cams and standalone management for the S14?

It is a shame to see it go, after all the tribulations you have had with the E21, the original and the updated version. I think you would have found it harder for you to want to sell it had it been painted the same as the original MIB, you might have had more of a sentimental link!
As you say you have the M3 to keep you entertained, and the prices are only going to go up.
Is this the end for you and E21's then?

Sorry you had to let her go mate, but like you say, you have other very nice cars and I bet the chunk of cash that has been released by the sale will come in very usefull.

Whilst the E21 was f'in awesome, the E30 M£ is the best pension fund on the market.
Although a bigger lump must be tempting, I'd keep it as close to standard, (or returnable to standard) as possible to reap the full rewards if or when you do come to sell.
My dream car!

I would stay S14 and go DTA, get Sandy Brown to map it given you're pretty local (plenty come from far further!) he's done one or two S14's, he did the one you sold to Harrismonkey
