Managed to secure a new engine for my race car build today. I decided to opt for a 4 pot m10 engine in a bid to keep an element of authenticity and low and behold get offered this little beauty. Spec as follows = Rebuilt E21 2.0 engine with a ported/gasflowed e30 316 head, 284 Catcams cam, JE forged pistons 10:1 compression, bored out to 90mm so 2036cc I think, total seal rings. Bottom end balanced, flywheel lightened, all gaskets were new,S14 throttle bodies with cosworth injectors, S14 intake trumpet things and airbox. DTA ECU and loom, mapping done by Ric Wood who built the engine up. 02again crank trigger kit. 5 speed E21 gearbox and linkage. Fritz bits stainless 4 branch manifold. Dyno'd @ 170bhp The wheels turned up today too. I'm really looking forward to this build but want to find a period livery to paint the shell in. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

My Mrs thinks the same. I'm lucky to be able to indulge myself. Bloody Christmas always gets in the way though. Really looking forward to getting on with things come the new year! Happy Christmas people! ;D

I figured I would put Christmas to good use and spend the time having a go at refurb'ing my BBS splits. I bought these for my track project so am not looking for a show standard of finish. Mind you, I do want them to look good still as I'm a bit of a shallow tart when it comes to that sort of thing. First off I just examined the rims and using a steel straight-edge rule, checked there were no buckles, dings, dents and obvious cracks. There weren't. I just need to clean everything properly and remove old balance weights and all the silicon that's been used to seal them in the past. I'm going to use the proper neoprene seals when I build them up again. The bolts all look OK and just need a damn good clean. I'm not fitting centre caps as I like the open lug look on track cars. I think I'm going to keep them in gold too, as a nice contrast with Golf yellow paint and polished lips. The rims are actually in pretty good condition so a couple of tubes of Autosol and half a dozen finger tips should have them looking sweet again. In fact, polishing these is the next job as once they're shining it'll motivate me to do the rest. [/quote]

is that jim's engine?
i always thought he chucked alot of money at that for 170bhp which is what a 2.5 m20 should put out as standard. and jim said himself that the baur feels faster than the slug! even with the extra weight in the front.. slow in fast out is the key.

It is, yeah. I'm hoping to stroke it out to a 2.1 eventually. The main reason I went for an m10 over an m20 is to stay in a lower class. Also as the shell in a 76' it'll remain period.
Just back from doing a London tunnel run with about 30 cars. We kicked it off at 7am and gave the demonstrators in their tents an alarm call they won't forget in a hurry! I know its childish but it was great fun. It was also good to see things like Ferrari & Maserati getting properly caned! The stripped Volvo T5 spitting flame gave the tourists something better than London Bridge to photograph too!

There was a set of almost new pirellis in the forsale section last month, not sure if the went!
I get confused with your cars sometimes!
You have MIB which is an e21 with a 328 engine An e21 track car you are building up You have just sold an e21 track car? And an e30 m3? You also have an e30 track car? Oh and the other thread for the twr e21
Am I about right?
Love them all though and wish I had your disposable income, maybe one day I can get hold of enough time and money to fix my e36 😊

I'm very lucky I know but I'm also in my mid 40's, worked like a mother-hubbard and don't smoke or drink. Instead I indulge my passion for Bavarian cars. I own the TWR, MIB (my orange daily driver), the red early 316 shell (race car to be) and an e30 325 track car. I recently sold my M3 and other e21 track car. My mrs has a pair of 02's.
