Ok it seems it is defeeting the point of owning such a motor, however what are peoples thoughts on slammed 4x4 type cars?
There is a suzuki lj i have posted here before somewhere that looked awsome, been considering something like a vitara 5 door lowered on rota grid and street treads for daily use.
Any thoughts or pics would be very interesting. ;D

My mate is currently working on a slammed Delica which will run some rather stunning 17" splittie smoothies!
After living with lifted Delica's for the past 5+ years I can't wait to see his finished and dodging the speedramps.
I've always thought a slammed LWB Pajero would look stunning. I'd love to see one done. Vitara would work - epsecially the 5dr/LWB because it will exaggerate the length when slammed.
Do it Tim....you just have to!!

It's getting very tempting to do just concerned it will really screw up some drive angles or something? Sure the vitara run's in rwd normally unless otherwise selected

Absolutely love them. The daftness of owning a car designed to be purposeful and then destroying it's ability purely for aesthetics. It just makes me smile thinking about all the 'WTF faces' you will get.

Soopahfly - that's not lowered (much). I'm talking dropped onto the tyres kind of lowered........and I'm talking L300 too.
Might see if I can get some photos.

My Range Rover looked supercool when the suspension was set to its lowest setting ( it would rest on the bump stops ) but as soon as you drove away it would raise up again!
I know of a few kits designed to manually override the Range Rover suspension which are meant for offroaders to raise them up high but I reckon it would be easy to reverse it!
So I say go for it...lowered offroaders look supercool!

Try this site with a wheel simulator and you can play around with wheel/tyre/suspension options www.andysautosport.com/rims/geo_tracker.htmlVitara's are also known as Geo Trackers (Chevrolet) so try them as well. There's lots of different makes to choose from

I think if your gonna lower a 4x4 you need to do it like you mean it and not so it looks like the suspension has just got tired, unfortunately on most of them that means serious work, i have been thinking about it since i crawled up my rangey to have a look and decided it wouldnt lower enough to look ok, i have a master plan though, just need to get over xmas and the new year and i'll put it into action.

Agreed with Pop-up. If you go lower, it needs to be slammed. No half hearted 40mm here....4x4's have quite some scope for serious lowering although (as he mentions) it will be more than just cutting springs unfortunatley. Vitara's are probably a little easier because they are more car-like underneath than a lot of other 4x4's. Here's a little something to get you thinking....poor I know, but meh.....it's a start ;D

This is really starting to build my confidence in what i was thinking was my stupidest idea yet. Definately need to go and investigate underneath a vitara now to see what suspension set up it is running, can anyone confirm if they run just rwd as normal with switchable 4? More info the better, maybe even mpg figures. Sorry
