Seeing as this forum has a thriving userbase with the same interests, why don't we have a "General Discussion" forum?
Doesn't have to be car related, could just be things that other members might enjoy? I've seen many threads closed just because they are not car related.

Hotwire's stated aim is to keep the forum very focused on cars - preferably modified retro ones - its his sand box so we play by his rules. It seems to be very successful overall, certainly works for me

Yup, many outages, name changes and the like has rendered it pretty dead. Just an idea

This place is about cars, preferably old modified ones - nothing more and nothing less. That´s why non car related threads and adverts get deleted. There´s plenty of other places on the Net to discuss everything else...

If the mission is to keep it about old modified cars, then so be it. It was just a thought

I for one don't know any RR members on any other forums? (ps did I imagine things Dave or did I see your lovely bus ina photo earlier with a Merc and large portions of the body chopped off??)

How about a dedicated 'customs and rods' section?...... save us wading thru' all the 'semi-moderns' to get to all the interesting stuff!! Got be honest, I would Definitely Second That !. ;D I don't use this Website half as much as I would like to, as my Main Interest is in Customised/Rodded and just "Plain" Old Modified/Uprated Classic Cars from around the 1950`s Onwards. I really don't want to hear about "Chavyboys" Rover 200 Dumpvalve, or "Biguppety`s" Newly Painted Black Bonnet on his Fiat Punto etc, etc. I know that these Examples are a little "Over Stated", but non the less the Sentiment is the same !. Regards to all, Dave.

I might be a bit old fashioned but if I want to discuss other stuff with my mates off here I pick up the phone. Oh and IDY is right about the van How about a dedicated 'customs and rods' section?...... save us wading thru' all the 'semi-moderns' to get to all the interesting stuff!! I can see what you mean and can sympathise as i´m not happy about all the "semi- moderns" threads either but adding new sections to the forum is not the way forward in my view. We need to post up more interesting stuff to counteract it

Hi Oldbus, I cant help thinking that you are "missing a trick here" !. I reckon that just one "All Encompassing" Section for Hotrods/Customs is a really good Idea. It would take Mimimal Work to set up, and could be used for everything from Discussion on Related Topics, to Sales for Complete Cars as well as for Parts and Want Ad`s etc, etc. Go on, be a Devil !!. ;D

Its not a hot rod forum though. Why not just go on the NSRA/Rods n Sods it sounds exactly like what you're after?

:)I go on a few car related forums because I like the different things that each one offers. Most of them have have a "general/off-topic chat" section which is fine because it works for those forums. However, those forums are not Retro Rides... I don't agree that an off-topic section would be a good feature of this forum. So...IMO leave well alone FTW.

How about a "member services" section? Theres alot of us doing work on customer cars and it seems anyone offering a service is placing the add in the parts for sale section which slips down quickly. If there was a section specifically for business adds then someone looking for a particular tradesman in a particular area can look in there for it? I havent advertised on here yet as i figured it was only a matter of time before folk get fed up with business ads in the parts section, but, as I'm sure the other advertisers on here would aswell, if we could advertise in a dedicated section we could swing a good deal for RR members and benefit everyone.... just thinking out loud
