After a mildly terrifying and absolutely freezing drive from Bristol to London (which included the bad kind of sideways at 70mph on the M4), I got my latest project home. It's a 316 with a brand-spankers Weber carb, rebuilt suspension, 35mm lowering springs and a knackered heater fan. Plans: - Lop out a coil all-round. - SS exhaust. - Re-trim the driver's seat base. - Rims. - Replace horrible fogs. - Single lamp conversion. - Remove tow bar (see For Sale thread). - Re-paint chin spoiler. - German 'plates. - Tighten gear-shift linkage. - Paint (if I don't get rid before the summer).

Oh, and it took me half an hour to get from here to where the other pics were taken, which is about three meters.

That's very nice Matt, I like the plans - as a thought, ducktail spoilers look superb on these IMHO.

That is very nice! I do like these early 3 series, www.jaymac.co.uk is worth checking out for parts for these as many of the bits are the same as my 1602/2002.

Congratulations Sir, I hope you'll be very happy together. I have been known to buy the occasional e21 myself. German plates look fine imo. I might be biased though? Just about to fit a ''Ducktail'' on mine. What new rims do you have in mind?

Your new exhaust looks good, by the way. Tres bon.

Hey MIB's, Is the grey E21 on car & classic for sale yours then as it's the same car that's behind the green one in the first photo?. What's wrong with it as it looks like a nice one. www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C131785/

Well spotted that man! It's a cracking little car and only going to fund an e12 528i - also on C&C - although if it doesn't sell I won't mind. Singles are half way there Matt - got the grills and looking for lights to use with HID possibly?

Excellent! E21s are great, they look really narrow and delicate. What are you painting it for? Looks alright to me!

Would I be wrong for thinking this would look REALLY sweet if you just lowered it a bit and left the baloon tyres on? Looks a nice car, my favourite of the BM's

Would I be wrong for thinking this would look REALLY sweet if you just lowered it a bit and left the balloon tyres on? Probably I'm going for larger wheels/smaller tyres. Not settled on anything just yet, but I do have an idea:

Yaknow, this thing where you and OldBus Dave roll out palm trees or hot blondes every damned time you want something to be accepted is trying my patience. ;D (I mean, hellz, you could put a dogcoil on sand next to a coconut tree or Helga-the-synchronized swimmer, and it would look good too. I wave the unfairness flag at this tactic. Just how lonely do you think that Eldo feels abandoned out in the barrio right about now, anyway? )
