It has been some time since I have ventured into the greatness known as Retro Rides, and I am glad to be back. Some of the older members may recognize my screen name, but others may not know where it came from. let me refresh/enlighten your mind tank.

back in 2005/2006 this car caused a bit of commotion, and thanks to you it became huge.

After this car finished it life, I "upgraded" to an 87 Turbo2. I continued the octopus tradition, but in a cleaner sense of just a tag on the windshield.

I then took a long (2 year) sabbatical from cars. It started to take a toll on me, and once I started to think about the passions of my past this car came to mind and I knew it was time to get my hands greasy again, to have my knuckles battered and bruised.
This brings me to the topic at hand, the re-emergence of The Crazy Octopus and the car that will come out of it.
32 days ago I purchased a 1973 Datsun 240z for $500; it was not running. The initial goal was to get it to run for less than $1500 [the price of a 240z that I missed out on buying], and after 32 days I have done it. The total cost of the car as of today is $1300.
Here is a short photo montage of the process

All of the photos that I have taken can be found here www.flickr.com/photos/crazyoctopus/collections/72157623019151162/
And here is a link to the video of her maiden voyage.
be sure to know that I will post more regular updates.
And as far as the color options go; as much as I'd love to have the body flat army green with the octopus back on the hood, the age is upon me to be more classy. The initial idea is a gloss white exterior, satin black BRE front lip, satin black BRE rear spoiler, satin black ZG over fenders, gloss baby blue interior, and an octopus on the windshield (like the FC T2).
As far as mods go the car has already received: ABS plastic steering coupler, Urethane steering bushings, carbon-metalic brake shoes and pads, SS brake lines, SS clutch line, gutted interior, complete emissions removal, odyssey pc680 battery (mounted in rear passenger tub), and an electric fan off of a V6 Pontiac Fiero.
The next step is some Diamond racing 15x8 wheels with a backspace of 3.25” (-32 offset) with 215/50 tyres, welded-differential w/solid diff mount, sway bars (MSA 1”& .75”), header+exhaust (MSA), and then struts+coils (koni yellows+ 250lbs/250lbs)
It is good to be back.
