Someone been messing @proboards? I noticed this morning that some of my bookmarks were broken (ones to late pages in long threads) and a bit of a look around reveals that the page length has increased (which reduces the number of pages so page 16 doesn't exist any more and the thread finishes on pg 12 for example). Spose I've got to go fix a load of hyperlinks now. Ta for that! also, what is the new "attachment" function in the post message screen? I'd swear that wasn't there yesterday either.

I think I'll play with it and see what happens the attachment agreement doesn't say anything useful. Attachments:

Ok, it lets us share files up to 1 megabyte in size, and it lets code through without worry. gonna try a binary executable next (don't click it...) I'ts not malicious (it's an OBD logging prog) but it 100% wont work without the rest of the suite, even if you have the right OS to run it. Attachments:

Don't they just. PMSL. so I can send executable code via the forum now saves peeing about putting .js scripts in the banner It has uses tho, text attachments, data etc without having to go find a server elsewhere is nice, but at the mo it doesn't seem to discriminate at all, and only identifies the file from its extention when you D/L it so don't click anything from someone you don't know/trust

hang on.... does it allow stuff to execute on their server? if I upload a .cgi....

LOL no at least they have worked round that.
Personally I'd rather be able to upload ANYTHING - it's bloody annoying with virgin media now, they have "Upgraded" our email service, so that unless the attachment is a .gif or .jpg, it's blocked.
People should be wary of clicking OK and run on everything they see. Blocking some stuff only lulls them into a false sense of security, and then one day they decide they want some free screensavers and go searching on google........

lol, I know what you mean. I have similar problems with googlemail.. even throws out c source code sometimes and 100% won't let me send executables. (bit of a pita when you are co-authoring software with someone on another continent.. so I have another email acc for that now)

one small point though (not related to the bookmark thing) but I notice sometimes that threads full of pictures take forever to load (and sometimes don't load at all) my server log indicates that the page is trying to grab them all at once which gives the entire house a temporary bandwith issue. Also, proboards interprets a photo as a link, ie one line of text when it could be a huge (and some of them are massive) jpeg, leading to a stupidly big page. Longer pages can only make this worse.... unless there is a way to limit the number of pics posted per page?

I'm going to get jQuery sorted in the header so I'll look at a progressive image load or something like that to make the weight of large image threads a bit easy to cope with.

Am I imagining it or has the Whinge Bin gone too? I like it, it saves having all our negativity and moaning there for posterity.

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

Figured Akku was right, it was better not being at the top of the general section Need to work out what to do with Wiki request stuff as we'll be doing more with that this year Still some jigging around to do I think, but it is getting a bit tidier Also we now have jQuery available... but I've not done anything with it yet... I'm going to try and sort out a thread rating system of some sort with it and web services... but that has some other dependancies I need to fix up first.
