The F-N coupes had windows and doors from a Porche 356, did they not? I have an article on them somewhere but it's been a long time since i've read it and i'm not looking through all my mags now... ps, this? No Idea what this is, but I literally fancy it.

Can I lob this one in for a guess? VW Kafer TYP11 bj Nope. It's not a VW. Has a tenuous link with BMW though

are the wings/lights/ bonnet original? Looks a bit like a Steyr round the rear 3/4s, but the fact that it looks identical to a beetle from the front is slightly off-putting... did anyone else get this months mystery car in classic&sportscar? I did, but i'm not sure many will...and the internet has never heard of it! oh yeh, correct on the Checker..

isn't it one of the first rear engined 4cv aluminium bodied prototype from Renault? Prototype E106, made in 1942. Ferdinand Porsche actaully saw that prototype when he was transfered to France for a short while in 1946, so close to the beetle it was strange...

Kurtis 500KK Californian Frank Kurtis made significant marks in the auto racing world during the 1940s and '50s. Twenty four of the thirty three starters for the 1952 Indy 500 were Kurtis chassis! In 1953, Kurtis began producing 500S, the 500KK and the 500M, all based on the 1953 Indy roadster frame and parts. The 500KK models were special order customer cars that were delivered in various stages of completion. A customer could order a bare chassis to a completed car with any available power plant and transmission. The body was made of fiberglass with plywood re-enforcing by Jim Byers, an L.A. boat builder. This is one of only three bodies he produced for a 91 inch wheelbase. MKK55 was commissioned by Steve Salem of Los Angeles to compete in the Carrera Pan America race but was not completed in time for the 1954 race and the '55 race was canceled. The car competed in sports car and drag racing events from 1955 to 1962, finding its way to Texas in the 1970s. The engine is a 1954 De Soto, 291 CID, Hemi Fire Dome V-8 developing an estimated 275 HP. Not to be confused with the other Byers-bodied 500KK or the 500KK Jack Sutton Roadster Or the better-known 500S It was worth it in the end, eh? Now we can move on. What's this ugly beast? Exact name please.

[/quote] Correct."This car was built in Mexico by Automobiles Lamborghini Latinoamerica S.A., a company which in 1995, actually received permission from Automobili Lamborghini SpA, under control of Mike Kimberly at that time (he of Lotus fame), and Robert Braner, President of Automobili Lamborghini USA, to both distribute and build Lamborghini's in the Mexican United States and all the Latin American States including the Caribbean. Lamborghini Latinoamerica S.A. was allowed to build a limited series of special race oriented models and even create their own concept with Lamborghini components, the latter would become the Lamborghini Coatl model, keeping in mind the hand finished feeling these special cars would have to offer, each and every Coatl would be finished according the tastes and requirements made by the fortunate buyer, note the Coatl was not a factory prototype but, according to the people who created it, it was built with permission from the factory."More info here: www.lambocars.com/archive/diablo/special.htmAnd now, this:
