Not to mention something even better is to go in it's place Do you know something I don't know? I'm certainly not buying anything until the Dodge and Land Rover are firmly on the road. Knowing he things are at the moment for me, that's not going to be for quite a while. I'll be at the unit from 10am tomorrow if anyone fancies dropping by?

Aww c'mon, I was trying to raise excitement. I mean, whatever replaces it WILL be better, that's a given.

I kinda with there was something super cool to replace it, but I'm afraid there isn't. I do have the Land Rover though, which in my eyes is the coolest thing on earth. Then also the Dodge which is probably the scariest thing on earth. That'll do for me project wise for the time being. Hopefully see you Sunday?

I think we should put bets on to see how long that space lasts, before a mega secret project arrives :-)

Here are the pics from September's weekend. Outside, Bruce is straightening the Delica's front bar. So who won? The light pole or the Delica? I was almost expecting the next photo to be a pole on the ground beside it

Well, what a weekend! Far too much to put into words - everytime I start thinking about the weekend I think of something else that happened or was said. I think we had it all....ambulances, floods, cool cars, LOTS of tinkering, copious amounts of beer, amazing food, new machinary and most of all....great people. Friday, no sooner had Matt (Stealthstylz) appeared with the Ka project car, Dave (Butterz) arrived followed by Dan (VIP) and Bryn (err...Bryn). Bryn popped over the road to grab a pint of milk and on his return mentioned to me that there was a Beetle broken down in the road just outside the entrance to the unit. I headed out there and met Dom, the Beetle owner, and offered to get the car into the unit to see if we could help him out. We stopped the traffic on one of Bristols busiest roads while we pushed his car in and got it straight on the ramp Despite having broken down, Dom was happy that he'd unexpectedly ended up in some random place called Area 52. The car had lost drive and we suspected the diff/gearbox but something didn't seem quite right, so we started taking the nearside wheel off. As I removed the wheel bolts I noticed a lot of swarf on the threads of the bolts. We decided to remove the drum a look a bit further. I had to go next door to borrow a socket large enough to remove the hub nut: All seems fine there (brake shoes removed to clean them up while we were at it) "Guys, I think I've found the problem" Bryn goes with Dom to GSF to get a new one. Spot the differerence: All sorted, we decide to let Dom go Happy his pride & joy is driveable again. He's owned it for five years and it's a nice motor...good to meet you Dom and hope you come back sometime ;D Searched for Beetles on this thread and am actually really surprised to see Dom and his Bug here, small world. Used to go to college with him, nice lad, sweet car! Was actually this Bug that got me into Beetles. Was his pride and joy, shame he had to sell it.

Maybe I should mention while I'm here, few of the Area52-ers will be at Queens Square meet tomorrow morning. It's not an official outing but it would still be nice to see fellow people from RR if anyone can make it? The weather is going to be perfect! Hottest day of the year so far if predictions ring true (16C).
8am at McDonalds in Bedminster or 9am at the square. Be there or be... yeah, I'm not making that joke.

Was hoping top make it BUT getting bits for the Viva took priority. Went up to the VBOA parts do. Saw lots of very very low dubs on the way up. Might make it next month.

Right, let me say first of all that I've been a member here for ages but never really had a proper look through this thread from the beginning. I'm currently up to page 38, and have very happily whiled away a succession of otherwise dull and un-car-related breaks and lunches at work reading as far as I have, still got a way to go yet, but suffice to say I've really enjoyed the read, couple of questions:
1. Do you still do those mugs? 2. I'd love to make it down one weekend, is it still an open invitation to rust afficionados?

I feel like this thread has been lacking pictures lately. I'm not much of a photographer but I took a few anyway. Here's your reminder jonovlovFriday was the usual organisation, catch up and beers with the new project arriving as well as a new skid car purchase for team Kev/Ryan/Mark. Also, the new/old arcade machine arrived which we all sat on making vroom vroom noises. That e36 in the corner? Yeah, sitting outside for 4 years, rotten through both of the front sills/floorpans but all in all not too bad. As long as we've got welding gas right? Right? Yeah, that ran out. Some "welding" done and she was good to go. Despite blowing the coolant hose on the MOT ramp on Saturday morning, she passed. Most of Saturday was spent on this thing which admittedly I've got not much to say about (I was too busy to work on it) except that it is very VERY cool however very VERY rotten. Like, so rotten you feel like it might blow away. I hope some of the other guys took pictures of those rust holes and the special air ride system, plus where it now resides in the racking. Unfortunately that's all I have, lets call this a teaser until someone else comes along with better pictures

Yeah, that ran out. speedy88, it was actually 7 years. Yea. 7. I'm not surprised the alternator and coolant hose went NOPE.
