No its not getting a roof chop. I want to use it for wales/scotland/ireland trips, maybe euro trips too, green laning and pay and play days... Fair play, just was interested in what your plans were for her physical appearance. Just trying to get a mental picture, I find this one very interesting

A definite wise move!! All Land Rover chassis should be galvanised!! I know mine certainly will be too, when I get starting work on it. What about having a crack at the bulkhead and door frames. Ganvanised steel and aluminium will make it last forever!! Excellent work. Can't wait to see it all come together.

Ill be buying a new galv'd bulkhead. Mines shot.... If yours is BER then I dare say you should be able to pick up a decent one for not huge money surely and get it galvanised. I know of a fella this side of the pond that sells galvanised bulkheads for Series and other Land Rovers. He ships all over the world. He's on Land Rover Addicts forum. I could get you contact details if you want?

Oh yeah, definately following this one. Reminds me of a couple of years ago I took the-old-man up to Tomcat Motorsports unit for a nosey round and they took him out for a spin in their Works 88 which iirc had a tuned TVR 500 Griffith V8 fitted. He came back a very happy chappy and ready to splash some cash there and then as a retirement present to himself!

Lovely job! Wear some ******* safety glasses! From experience I can tell you a sliver of metal in the eyeball is no fun, not to mention the eye doctor giving me heartburn the whole time I was there. -Steve

So then, my week off commences. First thing is to get the chassis outside, degrease it and wash it down: Then start applying the T-Wash/Mordant Solution until it goes grey/black: Back outside for a rinse down: Back up on the ramp: And begin applying the Zinc primer: Stop for a brew (normal size mug on the right ) And first coat applied:

Nice work! It seems to me that one needs quite a bit of space to play with Land Rovers! The number of Land Rovers seemed to be getting quite out of hand at the start of this thread, one, two, three, four! They just keep multiplying! ;D

An early start this morning meant i got to get a cracking pic on the way to the workshop: Then applied another coat of Zinc primer: Then i lightly sanded it all and started with the paint: And first coat done! ive left the rearmost part of the crossmember as thats going black: So tomorrow for another coat. Hopefully it wont need a third as its taking 5-6 hours per layer!

So back in at 6.30 for the next top coat: So once that was dried i lined the axles up: Gave the workshop a good clean up (which took most of the afternoon!!!!!!) and got a lot of my bits out id accumulated: The pushed the bushes in my X-Eng arms. First one went in a treat. Second caused damage: So tomorrow i can start actually fitting stuff

I went through Retroanaconda's page to work out bolts i needed for today then headed down the suppliers with my list: Then masked up the crossmember ready for painting: T-Washed the box mounts and crossmember: Dug out the A-Frame: Improvised using my roofrack as a paint stand: Fitted the X-Flex kit: Brian lent a hand: Got the temporary radius arms on: And connected the trailing arms to the axle: Got some wheels on : Got to cover at work tomorrow so no more till friday
