todays update is fairly feeble *** cut and deleted loads of whining about no sleep and drunk people that aren't me , lost daily , lost (angle) grinders and visitors that stop me working + i had a hangover so couldn't get in my stride *** n/s wing rail is similar to the other side wire brush whole rail make patch cut out rot after trimming patch doesn't fit very well and is too short. tack it in anyway infill missing 6mm grind flush repeat for 2 smaller holes and mig up a pinhole still some more to do here but needed to get home and pack/find my passport. no more updates this week as i am working away total time spent (mostly reading magazines ) 146.75 hours total spend £1338.64 (not counting new library material )

They're not 'magazines' they're 'research material' and 'inspirational literature'.

Welding fairies are such slackers, they never do any work while you're slavishly doing important research.

today i was supposed to be working at an exhibition at olympia. i got to work late and my boss/colleagues had left without me. this is fairly bad for my career on a positive note, as i had nothing to get on with at work, i didn't bother clocking in and instead had a bit of a play rest of the wing rail patched and ground down headlamp box is fairly thin new metal welded in and ground down passenger door aperture needs a fair bit of tidying ground flush and high spots attacked with a toffee hammer i don't think i will need to cut and shut this side sploshed with anti rust paint for the time being while i had the paint out i smeared bit on the repairs to the front where the wing was welded on also needs a touch of the grinder start made curse word chop chop chop paint inside, fabricate new side and drip channel weld in badly and grind throw a pot of paint at it back to the back cut peel and grimace poke, chip, scrape, blow, fabricate, weld, put out the flames several times as expected, choke on the thick smoke, chase the burn-through for a bit, put out the fire again, grind, paint and then take a picture lumps are bubbles in the paint where i enthusiastically covered the horror a bit fed up of flames i decided to do a bit of exploratory wire brushing rear panel has a thick layer of filler over a fairly large collection of dents and repairs top of windscreen pillar has a crack? has been previously welded and over enthusiastically ground back bottom of windscreen aperture is a bit holey with the bracketry for the mesh screen being welded in this area, a big chop/repair is needed. but for now i need the pub more ;D total time spent (trying to lose my job ) 154.75 hours total spend £1338.64 (lack of dedication to my job = no money )

That's a pretty good day's work I'd say... even if you were "ill" and couldn't possibly make it to work on time. Terrible that the only remedy for your "illness" was (possibly) carcinogenic fumes, welding and the gentle cacophony of the grinder.
I think your fabrication is getting better too, this stuff looks a lot smoother than the first bits and bobs. Good work all round, as usual, and a huge lot of work done.

....if you were "ill" this stuff looks a lot smoother than the first bits and bobs for ill - read drunk , so drunk i had to stop watching la femme nikita as i couldn't read the subtitles alcohol is a great relaxant but i seem to be most relaxed at getting up time i have put a bit more effort into grinding flush but mostly its due to hiding the repairs under black paint and long distance photography;) I hope your boss is the understanding type not as much as i do ;D

possibly as a karmic retribution for my lax attitude, i have spent the last week mostly in bed ill i dragged myself into work this morning and got halted at the main doors. apparently no entry allowed for me and my germs my boss brought me a cup of coffee and the van keys while i sat on a chair in the yard. i wasn't even going to be allowed in the local vicinity when i eventually got back from my excommunication, everyone else went home sometimes i have to fight against feeling unloved ;D although i still feel dreadful i put an hour or so into the car. no pics as i have misplaced my phone also! i cut out the rot and the tab at the bottom corner of the windscreen. this ended up looking like i had done it with an axe comedy pics will follow i then removed another 3 tabs much more successfully using the power file weakened by my exertions i struggled home for a beer and a pizza not much done really but its better than sitting at home wishing i could be in the workshop total time spent ( coughing my ring up ) 156.25 hours total spend £1338.64 (lack of sick pay = no money ;D )

took my fuji to the unit today as i still hadn't found my phone the tabs for the mesh screen looked like this yesterdays attack left the centre and nearside looking like this unfortunately my axe wielding left the corner looking like this this corner has many issues including a lot of denting and crumpling which may be due to previous hammer action, or is a consequence of whatever happened to the bottom of the a pillar. i will find out for sure when its too late and the windscreen doesn't fit ever the optimist i gave the general area a quick clean off ready for repair repair to the lower scuttle panel blobbed in and ground where needed chunk of windscreen pillar needs to go i also bashed out a bit of the dent in the pillar i started to fab a repair piece for the pillar and scuttle top return i also threw some anti rust paint into the cavities i am afraid this is as far as i got before i ran out of time (bbq calling ) happily i have found my phone now so next time i can go back to hiding behind blurry pictures ;D total time spent ( looking for my nokia, cutting and welding but mostly skip diving next door ;D ) 159.25 hours total spend £1338.64 (now have a maestro factory manual, six rattlecans of merc arctic weiss a galvanised dustbin and a sore back )
