Waveman: not sure about the wagon being noisier inside - it probably is. I just turn the stereo up!
As for the HFV6, the Alfa version is built in Port Melbourne, as are engines for SAAB and GM DAT.

Here's a question for someone who knows more than me.
Would a small block Chevy bolt straight into a UK omega?? Gearbox?
Sounds like a hell of a sleeper!

Here's a question for someone who knows more than me. Would a small block Chevy bolt straight into a UK omega?? Gearbox? Sounds like a hell of a sleeper! 60% of the time, that idea works every time. I had the same line of thought when the Monaro started selling over here. Easily the cheaper route to silly V8 Vauxhalls at a fraction of the price. You thinking auto or manual? The Getrag 290 from the VT commodore is compact...

I likemy early model holden commodores with proper metal bumpers even though i have owned a few later ones! My list of commodores i have owned is short but they allperformed reasonably well for me, They were VB SLE 202 manual, VN series one ex taxi (bought at 800,000 sold after the clock got to 240,000) VL 6cyl and my favourite VH SLE 308 with brock heads, diff, and air intake.
oh alsohave a vr commodore wagon for the wife.
I believe brock started someindependant suspension on the late VL commodores and possibly produced 4 road going examples. Brock also imported the opel/vaxhaul 2 door hatch commodore thing and put commodore engine in that here (very few as they were $$$ from memory) The VN commodore also spawned the VQ statesman which was basically a slightly stretched vn with IRS suspension and suposedly better trimlevels than the povo pack commodores the VP commodore was the first to get the IRS in the sedans. Up to the VT commodore all wagons and utes were live axle then when the vt wagons and utes were released they got stuck with the rather dated IRS design.
Also heard that the VN was designed to take the nissan 6 as well as the buick 6 as they were not sure if the buick 6 would be ready for the range.
I am no commodore expert but these are just randomthings ihave picked up over the years i think they are right but i could be wrong! feel free to correct me!

I gather Holden wasn't too confident about HDT's efforts to use Opels independent rear end with Holdens V8's without the thorough testing they would have done themselves... Coupled with the 'Energy Polarizer' debacle...
