A bit of caution here, The cheapest Etronix transmitter on there takes 8 Cells, like it's still the 90's and it's a weighty lump. The EX6G is a rebadged DumboRC which you can get for £25 if you don't mind waiting. uk.banggood.com/DumboRC-X6-2_4G-6CH-Transmitter-with-X6FG-Receiver-for-JJRC-Q65-MN-90-Rc-Car-Boat-Tank-Model-Parts-p-1454329.html?rmmds=search&ID=229&cur_warehouse=CNI have one for my Arrma Granite BLX, and it's fast, responsive and has a great range. The built in Gyro is fun too, helps you keep faster cars in a straight line. Speed controllers, everyone goes nuts for the Hobbywing1060, but the latest versions seem to be junk. Mine couldn't handle the stock silver can mabuchi motor and a nimh in a Lunchbox without going into limp. Even did it with brand new LiPo's. Hopefully that little HPi one isn't a rebadged one.

Once you get up and running with a new speed controller, you won't need that little 4 pack on AA's. They were originally to prevent runaway if the car lost range as it would move the speed controller back to the centre with no input, and provide additional amperage to the Servos. Modern speed controllers have a BEC built in and don't runaway when the signal is lost.

My latest addition to the fleet. An Ebay Mk3 Escort Body on 3D printed RS Turbo wheels (couldn't get Mk3 RST or XR ones) The shell wasn't great quality. I had to leave most of the front lip on to cover the motor/gearbox mountings and bumper, which doesn't look quite right to my eye, but I really enjoyed building the Tamiya FF03 Chassis. It's quite unusual being front wheel drive and it's fun lighting up the fronts in the living room. As usual (as per drift Brat & Mustang build) I got too carried away and now I can't run it in anger in case I damage it.

They look awesome. I think Lockdown has rekindled alot of love for Tamiyas. Think I'm going to get a kit soon and unsure what to go for.

Thanks dude! Yeah its definitely one of the few positives from last year. Depending on what you want to use it for i'd definitely recommend a cc01! It has its quirks with a couple of things but is great fun on the trails. They have just released a mk2 escort as well that I'm planning on getting, the only slight down side with it is the body comes painted which is half the fun. There's a guy online called l&l models that does some great alternative shells for them as well though.

I'm slowly putting together a Df01 manta ray for my boys and a Df01 manta ray for me, with brushless power and lots of alloy. Aiming to get a carbon chassis and alloys arms in the next few months.

I thought I'd give a manufacturer I'd never had before a go for my latest project, this is the new Mardave Street Racer 10. Mardave was always (IMO) a bit of a budget brand and didn't really hold much interest for me but the are really upping their game. This kit doesn't come with a body so I got this Protoform '71 Firebird shell which looks great and is great quality. I was impressed with the Mardave and it's good quality, however it's disappointing that they don't use a standard hex fitment which really limits your wheel choice. This was also my first time using magnetic body mounts, it became obvious quickly that they are only really use for shelf queens as any impact and the body comes flying off. Overall I'm happy with this one.
