Hiya guys, this morning I recieved a call from my mate to inform me that a 1985 Austin Maestro with 68k on the clock had just been put over the weigh bridge at the local scrappy, I shot down there to find this.





To cut a long story short I managed to talk the scrap yard owner into selling her to me:) Now I already have far to many cars so I must sell her on which is a shame but I only purchased her to stop her being crushed. I don't think she will need any work to get her thru an mot and she is very solid indeed, the scrap yard onwer informed me that the old chap who owned it had just died and his family had sent it to the scrappy.





I drove her home from the scrapyard without a problem, engine pulls lovely and has just been serviced by the looks of it. The bodywork is tatty in places but very solid. worst bit is where the srcapyard dented the drivers door with the forklift. The engine bay is very clean as is the interior. All in all a perfect summer project.

If it wasn't so far away I would definately be interested, but can't afford the cost of transporting it unfortunately.

My father used to have one of these when I was about 5 or 6, all I remember is the cigerette ashtray spins around and round (and was good entertainment t the time:)) and the horn was on one of the stalks.
Good luck with the sale, mkes you wonder how many good cars like this get weighed in all the time.

Only on her facebook account. Must warn you though, she's quite high maintainence and needs regular servicing, also run a bit rough some mornings.

It's such a shame you don't have an MOTmax down your way, otherwise you could find out exactly what needs doing for free. (Unless it passed and then you had to pay, but then you could get more cash for the car with a full ticket, lol.)

Well it certainly doesnt look like its got galloping rot in it, if it does need owt the worst it's likely to be is a pair of CV boots or some suspension bushes or something. I hope someone gets on this as its class!

Oh dear, I'm in a spot of bother as the missus saw me reading the comments to this thread and insisting on seeing what others had said, blah, blah, blah. Bottom line is, I got called a few unmentionables and told that if I ever try to sell/swap her again without her knowledge I can expect a knife to meet with my nether regions. Let this be a lesson to you all folks! (Oh, and I gotta treat her to a takeaway from the most expensive indian/chinese in Lincoln. I can live with that.)

Now £250 which is what i payed for it, if it dosnt sell its going to a bloke whos offered me £250 for it for the engine which i really don't want to do
