1968 Beetle Floorpanned MBC Charger Kitcar (Resto)

This is my little brothers car.... hes 13 and bought from a mate of my dads....... wants a resto but aint too bad tbh..... theres a little bit of welding wanted on floorpan and a bit of fibreglass work to do... but aint bad really:p

this is a resto thread so I will be updatin quite regularly once we have been workin on it...

first thing we did was free up its brakes and tow it home.....
we then stripped all of the wibblepoo from the inside.... loads of carpet... sponge... fabrics.... a rubbish old telly.... allsorts..... lol
then we gave it a wash so I can take some pics to play about with in photoshop to come up with ideas.....
didnt do too much to it cos it was 8pm and all the mosquitos were out :mad:

started stripping the charger properly today....

removed the doors

took the seats out,

took off the jaguar fuel filler cap,

removed the fuel tank,

removed all of the excess carpet, rubber, sponge, all the s**t basically.... and found a gaping hole in the floorpan.... o well.



removed the windows....

stripped everything else from the car just about, disconnected the steering column from the beam..
freed up the engine lid as it was seized solid..
opened up the boot and found out that it has air horns

then decided to go all in do a body off resto, if your gonna do summat, you might as well do it properly.....

will be wire brushin the chassis and beam this week, strippin it off all the rust and applyin some paint, except where were goin to be welding......
we will have to see. cheers for looking!

hello all
come home from skool today, had tea at grandmas house then cracked on with strippin the pan off all its curse word bits of rust...
got rid of the brake cylinder.... its well fooooooooked.. crusty as a badgers a**e... lol

My dad and brother did some more to the charger while i was at work yesterday, finished off stripping and painting the chassis, painted the gearbox and stripped the front brakes down.

dad booked some time off work this week and did some bodywork on the car, looking good

spoiler is from a mk3 fiesta Si. got off a lad round corner, if hed took off a day later we wouldt have it... his cars been taken off him for no insurance.... dick. lol

put a base coat of black down today, to see where on the body needs work as you cant really see owt in the white.

now stored in next doors garage while we have an extension built and bigger garage for the next projects

right here we go, bit of progress on this now house extension is all done and my stupid car has a working engine.
i took the dash to work and trimmed it in some nice carpet that will stand out from what were gonna trim rest of carpet in. dash is dark blue/ can hardly tell its blue, rest of the trim is gonna be a dark grey.
tubing for cables has now been run ready to start stringing cables through, all sealed up and out of the way hidden in the body. random holes that were in the body have been blanked off using ally, rivets and sikaflex such as the big one at the front where a massive heater was that was no use. speaker box at the back is taking shape and will soon be ready to be trimmed and put together.
