One finished screen.... Needs varnish but the whole boat needs another coat after its been in the water a couple of times.... Also needs a damn good clean too after all the re-jigging... Moved onto the next thing on my list.... The seat (rear seat of 70 bug haha) Need to fix this in upright.... so here... I made a little bracket... So that I can use the original bug pivot points. Going to do one for each side... Then a support at the top to stop it tilting back. The base of the seat will have two or so simple wingnuts holding it to the floor...

pah... Needs varnishing again anyway... All the paint on the boat and the varnish will be done again as alot of the wood is new. So its just to seal it all. Like the hull. Its got wax in the paint so for the first year it bleeds. Then it needs a thicker coat. It was only there while i took the pic mind I don't tend to leave stuff on it lol

Right.... Update... Ish. For some reason ive lost the pics but the back of the seat is actually finished bar the painting of the brackets and making a panel to cover the back. Welded on a captive nut to the bug original supports. Then made a couple of brass plates to surround the support bolt hole. So that even though its bolted thru wood. The act of leaning against the backrest wont crack the wood, or wear it away. The brass will be sacraficial... Mocked up before I countersunk the holes. The thread of the bolt is Now covered by a brass sleeve And the end of the bolt has a wingnut welded to it so that the whole seat can be removed without tools. Was planning on removing them again to varnish the inside panels (scratched) But I'm contemplating varnishing over the brass....

Cheers mate. I'm realy in love with the thing. I Spent a while just staring at it yesterday ;D Anywayz... It didnt leak as such.. We/ I made a booboo.. I pushed it off the trailer... Tiny bit of water came in by leaving its ass bobbing up and down in the water So i thought screw it .. Lets put it all the way in. Which was the idea for the day realy.... All was going well. We got it all the way in and thought it was fine.. Untill dad looked inside the boat (we were both knee high in winter sea water haha) There be a hole in that thar boat.... Turns out we now know how the hole happened on the other side of the keel. Its the murderous bloody trailer!!! If the boat had gone off the trailer dead straight it would have been fine. But it didnt. The rear end drifted ever so slightly accross to the left (say 4 inches!!!) This meant that as soon as the front of the keel dropped off the centre roller and should have gone down onto the rearmost roller. The rearmost roller insead thumped pretty damn hard (weight of boat on a part only 1 inch wide??) Not very thick ply.... Popped a hole about 2/3 inches long in the bottom... Still it didnt gush in. And it luckily happened now and not with all the floor and seat in where we cant see it on launch day. It filled sooo slowly i would have been out in the solent before id noticed Oh and did i say.... Its fixed allready haha... I got bored , Went out there and cut some marine ply. Squared said hole off and made the ply fit inside, Countersunk some screws from below and pulled it in with said screws and a sandwich of marine sealant. Then painted over it. ;D BIG OLE (bottle for scale) FIXED

Yeah but atleast i happened now eh ;D Gives me the oppertunity to fit a realy wide roller on the tail of the trailer to prevent it happening again. It just wont be able to fall off

Not too a bad day then fella, at least you've found something with the trailer that can be fixed. It must be nice to see it out of the workshop and next to the water.

TBH mate, it doesn't look like you got the trailer anywhere near far enough into the water.
There should be no pushing it off involved. You should get the trailer so far in the water that the boat basically floats off by itself.
If the slip ramp is too shallow of an angle, tie a rope to the back of the car, and then to the trailer, and back it down that way.

There shouldn't be any weight on the rollers when getting the boat off the trailer. Looking great though - and it is nice to see it near some water.

The of the boat was floating pretty damn soon. The trailers a bit naff realy as theres no decent way of fitting a jocky wheel. And the current trolley wheel isnt realy working for it. When i say i pushed it , It was more of a let the winch off and give it a nudge. I wasnt pushing hard I'm going to be fitting a decent jockey wheel of my own design and making a decent roller on the rear asap. If the roller was wider I'm 10000000% percent sure that would have been fine That said. Its all a learning curve to me. And I'm just doing most things on other peoples advice... ;D Looking at the pic above it looks like it was only just touching but its decieving. The rear end started floating as soon as it touched. And then i kept going till the rear wheels of the carlton were in. (that was funny when the wake from a passing ferry came in) Which is what we are pretty sure made the whole boat drift... We were both too worried about water going in the front (open) door of the car to pay attention to the boat moving

But even after that it was on the trailer in the carpark and i was just admiring it... Its like my dad allways says with the citroen when he walks up to it in a carpark... "I OWN THAT"
