Sadly it's now on the DVSA Computer of Doom as needing an MOT. You can't switch back Ok - so it needs booking in for a imminent MOT at ever so helpful 'Rangie's' testing station in East Anglia and not get there due to breaking down at the side of a field with sheep in it a few miles from where you set off then If heavy haulage wasn't so feckin' expensive I'd put it on a truck to get it to Rangie's site. I'm waiting til Monday because the lovely Jackie who books the MOT's may have a few 'secret' slots or cancellations for a young feller-me-lad like me. Sadly she is currently sunning herself in Lanzergrotty and not actually thinking of my troubles. As for breaking down and sheep, who knows? It's all part of the rich tapestry of owning an old truck which is the concept I will be expounding to the next owner whilst dragging the shekels from his hand and putting my electric wheelchair into 'Punch-it-Chewie' mode Yes, I have electric wheelchairs (another project, don't ask!) One careful physicist owner

I foresee the second Hangar Jousting World Championships (Nocturnal)* with 140V wheelchairs (pausing briefly to replace motors every run). Thompson the younger has the necessary steed, ripe for modification (inc lows and rims obvz).
*”World” may be a slight exaggeration as the first (and to the best of my knowledge, only) Hangar Jousting World Championships (Nocturnal) occurred some time in April 1990 between 4 and 5 am, in Aldergrove, using office wheeled chairs and bass brooms, during a rare lull in work for all 4 crews (4 aircraft awaiting air test and only one overworked duty pilot). I forget who the winner was but only two people ended up in hospital.

The test station owners have to pay for the tester for allotted time. They then need to sell as much of that as they can in tests. The testers cost hundreds of pounds a day so you need to keep them on their toes. This isn’t easy as they are not encouraged by their union to be very flexible. The shortage of testers means a load of hassle all around in the industry. However most centres that fix trucks as well will keep a test or two up their sleeve for when they make a cock up and of course people sometimes don’t turn up. Having the truck on site waiting for a cancellation can make a real difference as sometimes you get no warning of a no show. This is good news for me as I can then sell the slot twice! Also bear in mind regular operators have operators licences and an MOT failure is a big no no on your record and can cause issues come renewal time. They would rather miss a test than risk a fail if it’s not been prepared. Try to find a centre that tests every day as they will have more capacity than some of the less busy ones. Plus get a relationship going with the dealer and get them to run it down the lane outside of test hours so you know it’s all good. Then get them to present for the test.... they will have a guy who organises the lane. The tester won’t move or sort anything on the lane. The dealers guy should get it through and can sometimes get away with some adjustments during the test. Anyway that’s my specialist subject some days. Good luck!

As for rimz and lowz there’s a slight conflict replacing 5” balloon rims with some sexy 14’s even with rubber bands. I do have a quick loading recharger for the flux capacitor though?

Just picked up the Red/White Dolly from Bourne Transport and fought my way through the Friday afternoon traffic in the little buzz box. Bourne may have a cancellation for a 7.5 tonne truck MOT next Friday. Watch this space and keep your digits crossed for me.

While waiting with bated breath for the results tomorrow, the old imagination ran a bit wild and I started to seriously think about remodelling the back end of the Goddess. The tilt and frame were a bit of a stop gap and are a bit too low so I got out my crayons. You know, the ones from our childhoods, the non-toxic ones that are soft enough so you can't shank another kid in the eye and did this. Yes, I know perspective is not my friend! So obviously I'm inviting comments, other schemes and designs however it's got to be simple because I've got to make it.
