Smart tow hitch, what do you need to tow with it ? Jameso Small trailer, large trailer, chain harrows, towed mower and I believe it will even tow the Goddess if the need arises but very, very slowly.

Anybody want their own transporter or shorten the chassis for an awesome cross country vehicle? Tempting... would make a good transporter as you say, alas I may be forced to live in the remains if I purchased another project

Today I managed to wrestle the headlight bezels back on. It's a job when, if at first you can't' succeed then you walk round the Goddess a couple of times cursing the deities of your choice and then go back to it and try again. There's no room to manipulate (ooooerrr) the bottom bezel and the it has to be attached to the ears on the headlight bowl properly or it seriously offends my OCD. That's not OCD for everything just bezel OCD. If one side does not go then change sides. If neither go then swap bezels from side to side. When one mysteriously goes on then you worry that you've put the wrong bezel on the wrong side. After many attempts and much walking around the truck where Bob the Dog has multiple times believed you are starting a proper dog walk it all goes together and you wonder where the bl00dy day has gone. Below you can see the world's largest wooden go/no-go gauge or va/no-va which seems to be a poor Spanish Vauxhall joke Fettled the rest of the side panel clamp blocks All that is necessary now is the tilt frame risers, the panel edging cutting and Sikaflex-ing (thanks Mr. blackpopracing ), painting (not by me) and assembly and we should have her out for road trials over the Easter weekend where I can create the maximum havoc with the holiday weekend traffic

This one used to live on Brighton sea front. It would find itself a little home somewhere, but inevitably get moved on to another spot half a mile away. I have to say I always loved seeing it. It had a lot of character. It was one of a bunch of odd vehicles of a similar ilk that used to be regular fixtures along the seafront and they were all pretty cool things that opened up to reveal really sumptuous interiors designed and build for one purpose only... enjoying life as much as possible. They all used to comprise a really nice little community down here. They'd throw open the sides of their trucks, haulage vehicles, portakabins-on-chassis contraptions and all cook their food together outside. At night time the trucks would be lit up with fairy lights and they'd all pull out bean bags and armchairs and sit around chatting. It was really nice. Idyllic. One of them was an old 1040's charabanc that had an entire side that lifted up on roof hinges, with fold out walls to make the side into an enclosed awning, and they had a set of long shallow steps that lead up frm outside, into the interior, and then from the interior up into a second level bedroom they'd built on the back. It was ace. Naturally the good people of Hove were disgusted and no doubt demanded the council do something about it, because they all disappeared a few years back. If you want to spend £30k on a shiny, restored VW camper, you can drive up and down the seafront all day long in a convoy that blocks the trafficwhile you wave out of the window and let everyone know how smug and satisfied you are in life. But an old Bedford, decked out like a Moroccan bazaar, with some peace loving crusties hanging out and being very pleasant and considerate... no we can't have that. Move them on!

The chaps from Bad obsession Motorsports (project binkey) are now building a car transporter-camper for binkey. Looks a bit modern to me but they'll be quicker than me It’s a Ford Cargo, and they look like they’re going to be using every one of the available 7499kg. “Quicker” isn’t going to be a word they’ll be using relative to anything else with wheels.

Have they not ever wondered why even the F2 stock car boys use a 7.5 tonne about half the size of that thing. By the time you have tools and all the other stuff needed for race days, you soon eat up all the available weight.

Yes. A lot of 7.5 tonners only have about 1.5-2 tonnes useable payload. Some of the specialist kitted stuff I used to drive had well under a tonne. If you’re serious, it actually makes more sense to take your HGV test and run a 10,13 or 17 tonner.
