I've been threatening to drag this out of hedge for several years now, but after seeing many jaw dropping mk2 cortinas at the retro show yesterday and KFW & co egging me on, tomorrow it's coming out! It's been there for at least 15 years... 2006 2008 2010 (a few weeks ago) I'm not expecting much solid metal

Please don't say that it drove into the space, and that you only took it off the road because it needed a patch of welding?! It's now a spares car I should think?

I'm thinking you probably need a stiff broom to get that out........which is a shame as I love MKII's, having learned to drive in one, they're my favourite old Ford.

My guess is that what you're seeing there is a Cortina-shaped shell of paint and chrome, like some kind of butterfly pupa, the steel long since dissolved...
On the other hand, a couple of patches here and there and you're golden!
Gotta be worth restoring whatever the state, hasn't it?

Until now it's been a "hands off" approach, it belongs to one of my family and I've been told not to bother with it. It was brought over to the farm and was put in that spot and hasn't moved in at least 15 years. It's probably only good for scrap now so I don't see the harm in dragging it out, in the unlikely event of a miracle of it being savable I'll apply for the log book and go from there.

Fair do, gotta be worth a punt then. Even if only to make it a mission to get the old girl running, post the video footage on here shouting 'It's alive!'. You know we all want to see!

I'd put money on it disintegrating as you try to pull it out. Engines probably seized too

Go for it, the ride height and patina is already spot on, just wants that front indicator sticking back in and I'm sure it'll fly thru the mot ;D I love the picture from the rear in the bushes
