The meet has gone from being mostly retro/classic with a few moderns to the other way around, that's the problem when things get popular.
Rather than complaining about it, I suggest anyone with anything pre-2000 park on the Toys R Us side and leave the central area to the more modern stuff. The Toys R Us side is still fairly well lit and separate without being too separate.
I left about 9pm because I had another appointment to attend, but the stereo stuff meant I likely wouldn't have stayed much longer anyway. The modern stuff doesn't bother me so much, some of it is actually nicely put together, but I'd rather there was more of the older stuff there to give a bit of balance.

all it needs is a couple of sandwich boards at the entrance to the part of the car part the main meet is in with <-modern retro-> let people decide which one to go in, people will go to their area as they would naturally feel more at home there

I'm disappointed at the lack of respect for the retro culture . The meets used to be a peacfull meets with quality cars . If the meet is advertised make it clear that there will be a divide between the modern and retro .
Opinions will vary on what cArs should and shouldn't turn up , top and bottom of it is you can't stop anyone from turning up in any car , askin them to behave in a respectfull manner is something that can be Asked .
Someone needs to grow some balls and ask people to turn Down and stop the clowning around though and not just moan about it after the event . This behaviour has been coming and should have been expected ,

I've had a little poke about organisation of this meet and I think, providing it's not stepping on any toes, that maybe I should make the offer to help/take over organisation, especially after reading the above comments.
I'm in a much better position now than when the shout out for an organiser happened last time so I will be more able to devote the time needed to both promote and attend the event.
Personally, I want to see a bit of organisation actually happening as at the moment it seems like something of a free for all. I already promote the meet (when I've been attending) by taking lots of pictures and making little write ups, it's something I enjoy doing to spread the word. I'd also want to see an age/type separated parking area now the meet is of a size to take it which would help lend a bit of cohesion to the event without really upsetting everyone, just have to work out the best wording for it as big signs would be useful for all attendees.
Importantly, I'd like to see the meet return to a more retro focused event as that's what drew me to it in the first place. It's a shame that so many people with excellent retro and classic cars have felt the need to stay away because of a few people showing off needlessly.
So, without wanting to appear too bossy about all this, what are people's thoughts? If you want it to stay as is that's fine, I'll sit back and enjoy what we've got. If you'd like me to try and have a go at organising what has to be one of my favourite meets then feel free to tell me.
Importantly, whatever you'd like to see, please do say so. Without knowing what needs to be changed, kept the same or improved no organiser will know what they need to do differently.

I can see the music annoyed a few people that's fair enough but to moan about newer cars turning up an showing there cars to other motor enthusiasts that's a bit harsh it wasent like they were standard everyday sales men cars, you have to rember that not everyone into cars has a "retro ride" for what could be a number of reasons so don't all be haters!

I went last summer and ideas full of pre 2000 (retro) cars.... Great! Nothing against post 2000 cars but this is a retro rides forum and the meet is for people to bring their retro rides to..

The meet used to be a lot more Retro focused, but it also used to be a fair bit smaller so of course a wider variety of cars are going to turn up, we should see this as a good thing and an opportunity to spread the word, we just need to get a little organisation in there and keep the stuff people complain about the most - noise, burnouts, silly exhausts - to a minimum.
As long as we remember that we're all car enthusiasts it should all go well. It's a public space, so there's no way to control precisely what cars turn up and I think it would spoil things if we did prevent the newer stuff turning up completely, just as it will if people with older cars stay away.
In the short term, it seems that if you want to avoid the noisier, more anti-social stuff it's best to leave by 9pm. Those people that are proving a nuisance/danger to attendees can only be politely asked to tone it down (which I'm quite prepared to do) and providing we can keep things a bit more calm it need go no further than that.

firstly I would like to say a big thank you to Ryan. as said in the very first post I started this up nearly 4 years ago now and when it came for me to leave sheffield Ryan took over and has kept it going all this time. it has never been an ideal venue but it has worked, I never expected it to get as big as it has done, even folk from up my way have made the trek down for the last meet. it's success has also been its downfall due to daft folk turning up and messing about. to be fair though, those who used to come in the early days will probably remember the same happening with people in retros too.
this is a car meet that started here on retro rides but was always open to any car providing they behave. please don't criticise car enthusiasts just because they don't like old cars
I think it is easy to criticise any organisation of any meet but please remember this is a meet in a carpark, not a car show.
now we are on the 3rd organiser for this meet I have no doubt it will continue to grow, but we still need lots of people to spread the word.
I will be down one day ;D
