...what a weekend. Some of the best 3 days of my year, phenomenal.
RRG is:
The people.
-Folks you've met before, owners you've followed on here, strangers that become less (actually, in most cases, more) strange...
It's the people that supply the atmosphere, and what a group of people. The show today was great, but for me the best bits were friday and saturday - boiling up one of kev's heater pipes in a camping kettle for charitable transplant elsewhere. People jumping to help with the campsite toys' teething problems. Chris reclining on the Z's bonnet in the pitch black pronouncing in a trance-like zen state that he felt like his car-switching days are over. Lounging around on sofas in a field at 1am, chatting ridiculous curse word with people after far too many ring-pull Tuborgs.
The cars:
-Varied, eclectic, stylish, bizarre, hilarious, great. I don't bother going to one-marque shows anymore, retro-meets are the way forward, and this one is the best by an insane amount.
The lunacy:
Project X, scooter-trike, DeWalt chopper, flashing ratlook mower, Evelyn Tensions and the totrod.
You're all a load of bloody mentalists.
...
SOFAS IN A FIELD.
...
A52 is a glorious and monstrous hive-mind of invention, and deserves to rule the world.
The track:
See these same cars doing what they were (or, in a lot of cases really weren't, Kev) built to do. First time I've tracked the MR2 and I bloody loved it. Colon's combined drifting/sandblasting sessions were an absolute blinder (in more than one way), and Kev's truck and the lunchtime escapades were priceless. Commiserations to PhoenixEscort, but glad that he walked away ok - as noted above, most important part is the people.
The organisers:
Wouldn't happen without the people that turn the cogs, so to all of those involved in arranging the venue, sorting paperwork, marking out stands, sorting the track, posting tickets etc etc etc, major thanks from the rest of us.
Big shoutouts to everyone that I spent time with, you're all bloody legends, thanks for putting up with me.
Oh, JohnnySomerset smokes banoffee cheesecakes, and VIP enjoys a good Cream Soda.
