I actually like the blue - good colour I painted a block gloss black once and you couldn't see when you had an oil leak where it was coming from - so I painted the next one gloss silver - bloody stupid colour too if you had an oil leak with fresh oil, but you could spot it once the oil coloured up a bit. Next one was gloss gold same if not worse than silver...... I reckon next one I'm gonna do in a matt colour as that helps you see oil leaks and I reckon the blue would be nice.... Isn't the trick not to have the oil leaks (he said, owning a land Rover product)? I like big sixes (in line not V format) in Opel flavour - oil leaks are part of life - even with a decked block and skimmed head with all new gaskets and good jointing compound you will still get a level of leakage - I've never had a completely dry engine - esp 24V's (on 12V engines - at least the sump doesn't rust if they leak a little)

Just caught up with this thread. What can I say Fantastic!
I'm getting my Lseries built very soon. Can I ask where you got those light weight rocker arms from, were they expensive? Nice asymetric cam, should make for a lively throttle response!

Nice asymetric cam, should make for a lively throttle response! Thanks Racer, the cam is a 290 degreed Tomei Procam, took some tracking down, lots of people list it...almost no-one stocks it. Rocker arms are from Brian at Z Car Customs, he's a one man show but has been VERY good to me over the years of this build, he's also who I sourced the G-nose from. His website is here - zccjdm.com/

After keeping you all waiting like a hungry pack of dogs giving you the strip tease...here's the Full Monty. I give you, one *slightly* fettled rusty old Datsun L6. Scrubs up alright I reckon. Hope it's to the collectives fine taste and that bstardchild doesn't mind the colour too much, I am now biting at the bit to get the car finished, running, shake down at the track and onto the dyno, this is a huge kick in the ass to getting there. Seriously. I am having trouble sleeping. I haven't even thought once about the Porsche. ... Mystery Machine in your long history of car dreams, am I meant to take this as a sign?

Me? I'd take the bloody thing to bed. Not slept with anything that gorgeous for years. That is fantastic.
P.S. Prefer the new colour too, looks like a piece of machinery again.

Engine build = AMAZING New engine colour = AMAZING Project so far = AMAZING Spec for the car = AMAZING This just gets better and better. And better. I am having trouble sleeping. I haven't even thought once about the Porsche. ... Mystery Machine in your long history of car dreams, am I meant to take this as a sign? It's fate I tell you, fate. This build needs your undivided attention and your subconscious is telling you that. I'd like to offer to help with these potential distractions...I'll buy the Porsche. Two things: First: *fap fap fap* - awesome stuf!!! (I'll appear calm for now for fear of runing out of superlatives ;-D) Second: why do canadians seem to love screws with a square drive!? Every single car has at least one of them. And I don't have the tools...

Heh. May take you up on some lenses when I get round to the Porsche. Just got home to find the postman had kindly left me a little package from Japan. I've missed out on something like FIVE Kameari and or Lamco (Lamco make the gauges for Kameari...and are usually half the price) Tachometers on Yahoo Auctions Japan. edit: there is a 10K Lamco Tacho on there right now if anyone is interested...came too late for me (2 hours left to bid if you want it, presently at about $105 AUD) page5.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/e152793448 I had enough of losing...very almost ordered a custom one from the states...when I found this beautiful beast. Took a gamble, ordered it, it looks perfect, fits perfect and the servo motor for the needle is really trick! The engine isn't ever going to 10K RPM, but hey, why not. Even the font is right. Turns out with the supplied rubber O 'lock' ring seated around the bezel, it's a perfect fit in the stock gauge surround for the 240Z dash. Subtle and classy, I like it. Now to supply some beers to my dear Japanese friend Nay to translate the installation instructions...

Thanks for that
Can I ask what the extra support arm on the front of the Kameari chain tensioner does? I've used one of these tensioners for a few years now but, mine doesn't have that arm on it. Is that just a newer design? Cheers
