I'm pretty sure that's what I thought when you started on that Lancia Beta Well, it doesn't look like much but planning and making this one straightforward panel was two evening's work. The two smaller holes are for mounting the seat belts, therefore there is the reinforcement plate. I still need to weld some nuts behind the holes. I added some original style water drainage to the panel I'll be spotwelding this panel back in just like the original panels were. This will look neat and it will also allow me to replace the outside sill later without having to repair the inside sill again. I am changing the construction though. Left is the original construction, right is how I'll be doing it. Black = floor panel Red = inside of sill Blue = outside of sill

It seems I was very lucky buying these rims as they're original CX GTi 14" rims which look exactly the same as the later CX GTi 390mm rims which need very expensive TRX tires. 15€ per rim + 25€ for shipping makes 85€. They have some corrosion but nothing to serious. And I welded that new piece in yesterday evening, so as something got done I'm allowing myself tonight off

the ride was bad on 16" wheels and low profile tires combined with the really soft suspension, but if I could only find some cheap 15" Alfa alloys that would be really nice. It's hardly a priority though... I've got 16" Azev Alloys on my CX and it's not that bad TBH - and the suspension is stiffer on the GTi Turbo anyway.

It took me a while to figure out how to fix the rear corner of the passenger side sill. Pretty happy with what I ended up with. I added some extra braces inside to act as a reinforcement for jacking. Originally there was a separate jacking point and the bottom panel wasn't as big as I made it but I completely forgot about it... and I like it better this way anyway I'll spotweld something to the bottom just to make it clear where to jack. Then I finished the floor! I need to still do the rear of the sill but that'll be easier once I get the subframe off. Now I've turned the car around in the workshop and will start fixing the sill and floor on the other side.

You're making a good job of the sheet metalwork, it's fairly coming together. Good on you mate, stick at it!

I've been taking it a little easier lately, but I still managed to fabricate and fit a one meter piece of inner sill on the weekend.

Looking great, you're doing a good job of the fabricating and welding especially if you've not done it before! I love CX's, fond memories of my dads Familiale, although not so much it constantly weeing out LHM fluid..

Some day this week I made this small patch, which in my opinion is quite important for the strength under the jacking point. Today I welded the narrow stretch of the floor forward from that patch on the picture shut. I also made the last piece of the inner sill. Although there's still a big hole where the driver's seat is supposed to be I decided that the body must now be strong enough to start taking the rear subframe and chassis legs of. This needs to be given priority as the car can only stay on the pit where it is now until January. So today we turned the car around It doesn't run equally enthousiastically on all cilinders, this is due to bad spark plug leads for which I already have new ones. The stalling outside the garage is because I ran out of fuel, the car has an old oil bottle filled with fuel under the bonnet rather than an actual fuel tank

Cor, reminds me of my Dads old 2400 Pallas. It was a beast of a car and it was in brilliant nick when he sold it in '89. Allways loved the suspension and the dials. Aren't the clocks suspended in liquid or something similar? YPG 740T where are you now.
