A couple of retro custom jobs on neglected BL products. I don't think anyone actually built a Princess like this in the 70s as it would have been a nearly new car, but there were a few front wheel drive BL products that got the jacked up treatment with a non functioning rear axle back in the day. This one really needs a fully chromed Jaguar IRS, with a red light over it. Properly modified Maestros were quite scarce too but the van has more potential than the hatchback in my opinion. I could just see this in the pages of Street Machine back in the early 90s. I don't know what the wheels are or whether they're in period but they looked right to me. can remember custom car magazine getting some BL cars including a princess and abusing them i probably have the copy of the mag up in the loft no doubt

Don't remember if I posted this one, but I had a shot at the Princess too... Went for a sort of factory coupe version first. Which morphed into a sport-wagon Lotus Elite type thing... An finally a 70s concept car version, 'cause if you're going to be a wedge, then be a WEDGE.

bit of a zagato vibe there Horrido Thanks! This one came about as I read something by a guy who races a Karmann Ghia and he was talking about the aerodynamics of them. He said they're actually very good. Probably about the same as the 356, but that the 356 has a better nose, which doesn't lift so badly. He had trouble at 120mph with the nose lifitng on his car. Just got me wondering.

Another what-if, body style that should have been. As you may or may not know, the Chevy Nomad started life as a concept based on the Corvette. So, given that the Thunderbird was Ford's answer to the Corvette, what if they'd designed their own station wagon (shooting brake?) T-bird? It may have looked something like this:- Then I decided that the rear wheels needed moving back a bit to look less like an altered wheelbase drag car.

Updated version of the old Nova kit car. Thought these were the most amazing things ever when I first saw one, probably in the late 70s, but there are some changes that would help, I think...

It may have looked something like this:- My mate who is far better in photoshopping than me once did this estate by simpling turning the convertible roof into a long roof, carson-top-ish. Whilst this one was found on the webs. Some old mobile might have been harmed here. Or it's just another photoshop.

That last one is real, it uses the roof and side windows etc off an Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser.

That car would be quite buildable IIRC (if a massive amount fo work. Also, proportionally, I felt like it would work as a mid engined car. Wonder if it would fit over a Boxster frame?

I have seen a real custom version of this idea but I wanted to see what a "stock" version would look like keeping all the original styling cues but slightly re-mixed. So we've basically got a British equivalent to a '58 Impala. Vauxhall Victor/Ventora 2 door pillarless. Same basic tricks as the Cresta Volvo 240 delivery. When did they stop making car-based vans?

Nice looking thing too. Look at what you could have won. Also a prototype pillarless Mk2 Zephyr. I'd often thought the Ventora would have made a great pillarless car. Surely these had enough in common with some Opel or other that they could have made one quite easily?

Messing about with the old Lagonda. Strange old things these even only in design terms. Imaginary restyle for if they'd kept it in production a bit longer perhaps? Couple of small changes are the chrome under the sides of the front and rear bumpers, which look like they are trying to get the car to go to a point at both ends. Also tweaked the roof line slightly by lifting the windscreen, as the front of the roof looks like it's pointing downhill. I left the back of the roof as presumably it offers enough headspace and has the limo looking thick C-pillars and slimmed the super chunky B-pillars down too. Tweaked the wheel arches and raked the rear of the car forwards and the nose slightly back.

In 2015/16 they produced 200 of them mainly for Middle Eastern market called the Lagonda TarafÂ

Too Bill Towns I would say, but sure, it's a product of it's time. The orginal one, surely, since it's his work/design. But Your approach reminds me of typical Zagato design. Must be the arches, especially the rear one. I never liked any Zagato cars. Doesn't happen often, since I hardly like original cars, but in case of the original Lagonda I always liked it. Must be that designed-with-a-ruler approach. The only thing I don't like about them are the wheels. With the huge profile they always remind me of jumbo jet wheels. Somebody here, dunno if it was ratchart or littlepixel, once did a nice modding, but I couldn't find it now. Edit: HEre it is: Don't take it as criticism, horrido , You usually do some marvellous revisit here, but this time I'm not with You. But that's just my 2p.
