Hi... ;D It's now time for some long awaited pics of my volvo 164... The original registry paper... From the add on the internet... Now already at home... and the start of finding out why it wouldn't start It still had the original spark plugs.. The worst part of the paint... The back seat... The engine number... The body number... The identification plate... That's all for now...

Needs a bit of tidying up, but that should be a really cool car! Thanks... I've already started on that... I think I've removed 80kgs of trash, dirt , sand, underseal, etc... The engine and gearbox was taken out by hand by lifting the front of the car.. easy peasy... so i could clean, derust and paint the engine bay. It has some rust holes in the usual places... But it's going... slowly but going...

Nice car! That should be really cool when it's finished. Thanks I'm almost on the same boat like johnrh's in his 1973 Volvo 164 RS... So it will take some time to be finished but not to johnrh standards, it's too much off budget but will still look good...

I'm going out on a limb here, but I think your rear seat has seen ALOT of action. Your on for something very awesome cesar Thanks..It's already showing it's worth...Last weekend I took it out for it's first drive in my hands, without doors, wings, front panel, gas tank, rear brakes, bonnet, boot, seats, exhaust, windscreen, with only steering wheel, pedals and a gas drum as a driver seat...and that straight 6 sounded healthy even running on e95 unleaded and a straight exhaust pipe... just awesome, almost like a supra... ;D

Some rust holes in here... Another one... The passenger side only surface rust, no need patching up... More to come...

Looking good so far!
Familiar rust in familiar places!!
There are quite a few turbo 164s on Swedish forums. So, if you don't know Swedish, funding a helpful translator would get you a lot of info. There are Swedes on this forum, and turbobricks.com, so wanted ads might possibly get you a volunteer!
I've been slightly distracted by a 240 GLT, but will be back on my 164 very soon.
Cheers
John

It is at least looking solid around the bonnet hinge mounts. That's quite unusual for a 100 series volvo.

The boot is the worst part ...It seemed that it have an first degree meeting with a strong vehicle... it has some bent chassi rails just near the bumper both sides... and of course the usual spare wheel wells...

Hey Cesar, that's a brave project! With regards the turbocharged engine, would it not be easier and cheaper to get a turbocharged red block from a 200 or 700 series? I don't know how common they are over in Portugal though.
