Talking of old pics, came across these pics recently. A Triumph Bitsa I built back around 1969/70, unfinished in these pics but I did complete it then stupidly sold it 🤦♂️ wish I'd kept it and my Lambretta. Frame, gearbox oil tank and headlight came from a 1959 Tiger 110. Motor came from a 1949 Speed Twin (500) and the tank was from BSA Bantam. Ended up with padded seat, chrome backrest and high level chrome pipes with reverse cone megs

waynedearI had this issue on an XJR1300. Took years to resolve it. I tried everything. Nothing worked. Welding extension on to the stubs doesn't seem to work as the originals are (probably) hardened and the weld doesn't take. I ended up drilling them out and was very lucky that it went right as this usually makes things even worse. My advice would be to take the head off and put it in an oven and then try to remove them, I did it with a Jaguar V12 block which had broken studs buried 2" deep in the casting and it worked

I have my FZ6 up for sale, or possibly swap... I have been asked if I'd take this for mine. I'm 'supposed' to be selling to put money in the bank, God I'm tempted though.

After losing my temper with this 'THING!'some time ago, i removed the airbox as i was becoming very frustrated trying to get the carbs back into place between the box and the inlet pipes, so a screwdriver, hammer and hacksaw...(did I mention a hammer?) later, purchased some good quality cones, fresh oil, new oil filter, paid £350 to have it tuned with just the pods, and just as my luck goes..... it's started burning oil at an alarming rate! so! After great deliberation and conversations, we are at this point, new engine and hopefully continue to crackle pop n' BANG along the tarmac for a few more years, or........ make some brackets, and shove it up on the Blasted wall......... ??

The Blackbird man has gone quiet on me, got messaged with an offer to swap for this bandit 12, it does make me smile at the thought of pulling up somewhere on it, taking my helmet off and people see a wrinkly old man...😁

"Wrinkly old man on a bandit" welcome to my world, people are not surprised, most bikes nowadays are ridden by wrinklies, they seem more surprised to see a youngster on anything other than a 125 or scooter Current state of my ratty bandit project, which may be getting swapped for a kawasaki project this weekend Ttfn Glenn

The bandit was swapped for a gpz750 Ttfn Glenn I know someone whose living room looks exactly like this. They're single. Probably didn't need the second sentence.

Looking into this, i would like to keep the same engine numbers etc, but if it comes to it, I'll be putting something else within the frame, Cheers Glen.

Cupboard clear out. Assuming the b+w is from dads side of the family, no idea what it is... Then there is my baby, rode it from the far side of Rochdale to Inis more in 2000, it was a J import that I had swapped my 750 zephyr for, I had papers but no registration, it's wrong I know but I stuck my brother's Kawasaki reg plate on the back... Wouldn't start off the ferry in Dublin, had to push it miles to a bike shop, they let me dry off and use their tools. Rode across Ireland to Galway in pouring rain, left it at the goods ferry and got the plane to the island. Two days later she arrived, utterly perfect for somewhere 10 miles long and 2 wide and not much tarmac... Miss it very much.

I started riding at all on a KX60 and then 80... they felt so fast in those days. I'm hunting for a KX/KMX/KDX now to scratch the nostaglia itch, but with a Beetle resto crippling my bank account, I can't really afford what they seem to go for now!!
