I was checking out classicmodifieds.co.uk (as should you...super wide slicks, scimitar chassis and classic bodyshells!) where someone had posted this old shot: That's a lot of things in one shot...old race cars, tow cars...neighbourhoods. There's so much to see. I need to find more. Unfortunately, I haven't managed to find any more info on that particular scene, but some other similar gems are cropping up while I search: The first pic looks like America to me, but the last three are from Australia...found here. ^ That one is from a Florida racetrack - the class (like the first picture) is 'Mini stock'. Another Mini stock. The caption reads: 1970 - BMW Ministock Champion - Peachbowl Speedway from here. That looks like fun! Cayuga Speedway introduced a new stock car division called Mini Stocks. I wanted badly to race and this seemed to be the perfect opportunity. From here. Love this one! It's from an album called 'Various old time dirt racing photos'...which is promising. sadly, there's only two pictures in it. Mini Stock Mk1 Scirocco. From here.

This is quite a good site for British stuff. When you look at these photos it no wonder theres not many RWD Starlets or Mk2 Escorts left! (Same can be said for Granada's and Cortina's but the site mostly concentrates on F2's and National Rods) www.retrostox.co.uk/

Indeed. When I clicked the thumbnail for this I thought it was an Escort...but it's a Mitsubishi! KP30! KE25 Corolla? Oval Beetle...complete with semaphores! Fiat 600 That's an A30 about to go onto it's side, I think...but is that a narrowed Mini with a bustle and nose job out front?

That 100E gives me the horn. I'm really tempted to build a bashed up road legal one, awesome look.

Very VERY highly rated thread!!
I have an old racing video with the 1980 Hotrod championship of the world on it. Its magical. I'm inspired to dig it out and watch it. Looks like I'm going to be late for work tomorrow. Ho hum.

one of my favourite threads ;D
I'm a big hot rod fan and my mate has a 2l chevette hot rod which he's had for bloody years.
cant beat the classics though, I need to find the 1980s and early 90s hot rod videos when I have some money

Drift angle! Its really interesting seeing how the shape of the F2 stock car has evolved over time. From stuff like this: To the taylor made £10k+ stuff you need now to be competitive. I've got a box full of old photos from Barford and Hartleppol from when me and my Dad used to go every week when I was a nipper. Have to go dig them out and scan them in - it'll not be easy on the eyes for your Granada, Cortina and Capri fans though!

wow, watching that made me realise, back then some of those cars were only about 5 years old (what year did the starlet come out?) and the golf.

I like seeing these old race cars. When stuff that today you would be shot by collectors/purists was just junk. The stories old race cars could tell would be amazing!
Cheers
