Did Ford use their own 4x4 system on the Country's or buy something in?
You think they would have used something from the American Trucks and just had it shipped over.

fair play to ye , you l stand back when done and think i done that the feeling great I really hope so. I'm focusing on a corner at a time to stop myself becoming overwhelmed. Just view each section as a little project. Really can't wait to be able to drive it. Tom

Luckily, the main criteria the van has to meet is accomplished with ease, the girlfiend loves it and is in the driving seat in a New York minute! I'm discovering that this is a VERY important factor. The Beetle is the first car that my other half has ever been interested in and its certainly making funds more forthcoming Tom

Well Dan. I think you gotta sell the merc. And buy another car. Simply because there is nothing to report on this. No mods etc So sell it and buy something we can all read about. So I’ve actively been having a sniff about for a light project/daily commute car as most of my pals say I’m a tight git and love a cheap car, but I’d like to call it saving an older motor from oblivion In the last few weeks I’ve tried unsuccessfully to save a 230E merc 1988 model apparently not for sale sat for five years A 190E not for sale sat for two years And I’ve now got a sudden want for a mk1 or mk2 mondeo Not an ST just a basic model, got a plan in my head So hopefully the W202 will go off to a good home soon And a light project will come in the new year The escort van as ever in the winter is warmly tucked away just receiving minor upgrades Looking forward to seeing either a Mk1 or Mk2 Mondeo get the MercDan treatment! Another hour or two this afternoon. Pulled the carb off and cleaned it out. Blew out all the passages etc with a bit of carb cleaner and put it back together Then removed the rear wing and attacked the rust a bit more. Need to do a little fabrication of some closing bits, but the panels I've ordered or have should sort everything Will hopefully get another few hours tomorrow, in which we'll start going the other way with more metal being added than removed.

There’s a creative chap in the North East that has a Newcastle brown ale themed Polo Bready (I think it would be safe to assume he’s from the Newcastle area) and has the bottle top wheels with the logo on They call the lad Dan I believe. I've met him at a couple of meets. He painted the car himself as well in his back yard. Its a very cool little Polo.

I generally hate seat covers, but you can't argue with how much they have saved those seats!

So the answer to the question "Where did all the Stanzas go?" Seems to be Cleveland!

3D printing seems the best Idea, I'm surprised no one is doing it and selling them on eBay I know, I would imagine they would be quite popular as well. All the sets of P’s that were reasonably priced all had the centre caps missing. I remember seeing an episode of car SOS and they 3D printed the centre caps for a Mk1 Astra GTE which came out really well. I imagine they would be the same or very similar for teardrops and bottletops!

Is that little throttle travel from wear in the whole linkage setup or poor design? Or a mixture of both. I've had to educate myself on what a 2+2 E type was 😳 Tom mixture of everything over 50 years of use. I also strongly suspect that the carb butterlfly's didn't open fully from the factory, possibly to ensure that if the car was spot checked in america it met emissions. Instant power increase! After looking at pictures I personally think the 2+2 is better looking. Its longer and looks lower and sleeker because of it.

Looks like a clean one and you can't go wrong with P Slots on a Polo! Tom Yeah I think they suit the Polo well, would have liked the centre caps as well but the seem to cost more than the wheels 😳 I may get some 3D printed 3D printing seems the best Idea, I'm surprised no one is doing it and selling them on eBay

So, great news - my engine is back in time! It turns out with the radiator out I could turn the crankshaft whilst pushing the bolt through the flywheel hole. The bolt is now snugly through the flywheel and the crank is locked. Woohoo! Spent a bit of time degreasing with Gunk and water but suspect I might need something stronger. The manifold is looking pretty rusty and I did think "hey maybe I'll replace it whilst I am in here" but if I take that approach I'll replace everything and I am not sure that's a sensible way of spending my money ... Get it running and driving for a bit then decide what you want to spend money on. In my opinion some things are no brainers like wheels and lowering, but other things might only become apparent later. As for the heat shroud for the exhaust manifold, are you on Facebook? Try some of the 205 pages on there or on eBay. I don't imagine you'll find new, so it'll be a case of looking for a better 2nd hand one.

This:. You don't have to be part of the "scene" to own a scene car. One make/manufacturer type groups are generally full of bell ends I've found but they're handy for spares etc And this: Just because you own a 'Scene" car does not mean you have to be part of the 'Scene' unless you WANT to be part of the scene.... I don't do car shows and am definitely not hip and trendy enough to be a part of any scene. I just like cars and driving. P. I've never ascribed to any particular "scene" apart from when I was about 17 or 18 and hung around with the Polo lot a bit, but that ain't exactly an elite scene 😂. I guess being antisocial and not really going to many shows probably helps, I buy and own cars because I like them or want to own one. The rest is just peripheral.
