20180915_164934 by PETER WILSON, on Flickr Wings are on loosely thanks to tbe ministrations of my local Morris Minor guru! I just handed the spanners over. David also threw on the new waterpump and thermostat. Wings and bonnet now in undercoat and leading edge of engine bay in etch primer as was looking a bit scabby. Hopefully get them flatted down tomorrow and a first coat of almond green on.

Hi Dan. Yeah I noticed you had gotten rid of thw W202. They seem to have disappeared overnight although saw a really tidy white one the other night. The W211 I'm sure is a bit different. That's some work you and George are doing on the van.

Ok time for a not too enthralling update on the 75. Nothing really much to report it has ploughed on with weekly use with just general maintenance. Had to have a brake hose for the MOT and I put on new front discs and pads a few weeks ago. It hadn't even been washed for a few months but gave ita spruce up for the Tollymore MG/Rover day last Sunday. Some really nice machines on show and had a really nice couple of MGF's parked beside me. Heres a few photos of the old bus from earlier in the year. 20180503_185115 by PETER WILSON, on Flickr 20180428_161054 by PETER WILSON, on Flickr And here's one of the nice MGFs from last Sunday. Bought for £600 but has had a few quid spent I would say 20180902_150218 by PETER WILSON, on Flickr Also one of the rarest 75's. Only seven made in this colour scheme and apparently its the only one known to survive. 20180902_153912 by PETER WILSON, on Flickr So no car buying over the last year as house and Minor needed money spending on tnem. Could fancy another MGF as a project for when the Minor is finished. Was tempted to go and look at a cheap Rover 600 but have so far resisted in fact if I hadn't bought the Minor I would have bought an excellent Rover 800 Coupe that was for sale at a car show earlier in the year. Sorry for the long post but that's me up to date. Peter

From the wheels I moved onto the bodywork. First panel I did was the front valence and it turned out really well. Don't have a photo of it but here's one of the front panel. 20180910_151146 by PETER WILSON, on Flickr Two top coats on this but think I'll give it another as I missed a bit, it has picked up some dust from theshed whilst it was drying and there are a few brush lines as I tried to lay off some of the paint that had dried too much. Overall I'm really pleased with the finish that I'm getting. Hopefully the whole car will be painted for less than £200. It's not a fast way to paint a car as you need to leave 24 hours at least between coats. I'm also hampered by having back problems which limits the amou tof time I can work on thecar at any one time to about an hour. It will be done but it'll be next year at least before its back on the road.

Ok tbink I've got it now. As mentioned at the start of the thread I was going to use coach paint as I've always wanted to try it. Obviously it isn't for everyone but I thought why the hell not. So I puchased three Purdy brushes for £50 and to break the brushes in I decided to do the wheels first. Stripped all the old paint off and got stuck in. Finish is quite good but as I was doing this during the really hot spell the paint was drying too fast and not flowing out to allow the brush marks to dissipate. Also I also hadntgot the high build undercoat as flat as I could and some marks were coming through from this. In the end I got a reasonable finish and eventually got the car back on its wheels. 20180520_202622 by PETER WILSON, on Flickr 20180606_195738 by PETER WILSON, on Flickr I was tempted to leave them red for the rat rod look but decided to carry on and get them old english white.

Sorry doing something wrong with the pictures. Yes Co Down car and original owner lived not far from my grandparents house. I like to think I may have seen it on the road when I was a nipper.

Nice E34 Chris. Lovely old machines to drive. Wish I'd bought one when they were cheap and easy to find.

Ooooohhhh serious green envy from the other side of the Irish Sea. Well done Chris thats an absolute cracker. Really do like the 800 especially the coupe. At least the four pot will be a bit easier and cheaper to look after. Good luck wit it. Ps do like the Mk3 Cavalier. Another car I would like to own again. Oh and make sure your mate has a good anti theft device on it. My old one was broken into three times whilst I owned it.

Love it. Nice Landie as well. 7 Ulsters are fantastic machines. When you get it finished if you get the chance you should bring it over to N Ireland and have a drive around the old Ards TT circuit which the Ulsters were named from. The roads used are still mostly in place and can be driven on at any time. Good luck with the rebuild.

I like the German plates. Really set the cars off. What happened to the Indian built W124 you had the thread about on the Mercedes forum.

I thought the Ital and SD1 were great finds but that Marina is special. Good luck with it. Takes me back to the late 70s early 80s when my dad had a 73 Coupe and a 74 four door. Both were riddled with rust at 6 or 7 years so finding two solid examples is good going.
