BMW 525e 2.7 Zinnobar Red Great 1985 BMW E28 525e 2.7 Automatic for sale in bright Zinnobar Red. This is a pure and simple classic BMW, great to drive and makes for a great starter classic without breaking the bank and wears the last 32 years of careful use very well indeed. A lot of the hard and costly work has been completed and is ready to use, show and enjoy. The 2.7 straight 6 is a pleasure to use with ample power and torque to get you where you need to be without fuss and isn't without the signature BMW straight 6 soundtrack from the moment you turn the key. Totally unmolested with only 4 previous owners having the pleasure of use in the last 32 years. There is also no enlarged wheels or stiffened and lowered suspension which many have been subject to, this is an original blank canvas for the new owner to enjoy. The specification isn't huge by todays standards but certainly serves its purpose. S270 Wider tyres S300 Central locking with anti-theft system S311 Electric passenger mirror S351 Heated glass, brown S411 Window lifts,electric,front/rear S546 Revolution counter L812 NATIONAL VERSION GREAT BRITAIN S850 Additional Export tank filling S860 Additional turn indicator lamp These don't come up very often in a good usable condition with some history and stamped service book, some dating back to 1985 from BMW at 7463 miles and significant work completed in last 18 months or so which include:- Repair to exhaust manifold and downpipe. Front anti roll bar link dust covers. Cambelt change. Replacement of steering idler arm. Front lower arm bushes. Replace N/S/F lower ball joint cover. Both rear inner driveshaft gaitors. Both rear subframe bushes. Replacement of park brake shoes. Repair to O/S/F jacking point area. Repair to both rear inner sills. Replace radiator and water pump and flush system. Replace both temperature senders. Just the above totalled over £2,500. Current mileage at 116361 and MOT to expire 12/7/18 Couple of defects to mention are the paintwork is old and tired particularly on the roof and boot lid, however is presentable as you can see from the pictures, the temperature gauge doesnt work due to an instrument cluster fault, the car has been run solid for over 2 hours with a laser temperature gauge keeping an eye on things and sits perfectly at the correct temperature but would rather the gauge worked, and the intermitent wiper feature is temperamental at times, assume a contact issue on the stalk or wiper relay. 20180130_134524 by luke pirozzolo, on Flickr 20180130_134738 by luke pirozzolo, on Flickr 20180130_134536 by luke pirozzolo, on Flickr 20180130_134724 by luke pirozzolo, on Flickr 20180130_134454 by luke pirozzolo, on Flickr 2018020180130_134657 by luke pirozzolo, on Flickr 130_134503[/url] by luke pirozzolo, on Flickr 20180130_134657 by luke pirozzolo, on Flickr 20180130_134624 by luke pirozzolo, on Flickr 20180130_134617 by luke pirozzolo, on Flickr

Wow a bloody tenner! That's fantastic! Sell your anni seats and that covers everything including getting those up to scratch. Got to love a bargain! You watch in years to come getting hold of those seats will be impossible unless buying the car there bolted to. Already are! I hadn't seen a set in Dand for over 3yrs! I guess I've never looked for the seats haha but I can imagine if the cars are as difficult to get hold of as I found theres no surprise! Think theres only 167 Aero's left?

Look at that! Blast from the past, never see these anymore and great fun! Had 1 of these when I was 18 and loved it! although I did end up rolling it down a dual carriage way on a bend over a hill being a little toe rag.

Nice old girl!
I believe the rear lights are plug and play however may need coding due to the facelift ones running the led sidelight bar across the middle so may bring up the bulb warning on the dash.
The wheels wont be staggered either so should be 225/55 all round, wheel choice the style 42 bbs look good if you can get hold of a set or a set of Alpina's but there quite costly and bend easily.
Wouldnt bother with exhuast mods tbh as just ruins the drive and draws the wrong attention and as being a 520i not going to win any traffic light races, keep it as a good looking cruiser that will go the distance in comfort and understated style.

Ohhh yes blast from the past! I had a black S1 one of these a few years back and my god was it a blast! Had a few choice mods S2 rear axle Koni adjustable shocks, pugsport exhaust system and manifold and Carbon intake on a set of Compomotives with sticky tyres, it showed ALOT of cars up on the twisty roads with more than twice the engine, I had more fun it that than I did my 400bhp Nissan S14, I regreted selling it straight away! I recommend people drive 1 of these in there life, I'd have another in a heartbeat.
Love the Speedlines too, keep them as a spare set of wheels with some decent sticky tyres for the summer or vice versa on the steels, either way cant go wrong and many happy miles

Oh wow! That is a beauty! Gotta love a 9000! Same colour as my Anniversay - Scarabe is a great colour! Thanks very much! Just like yours! Just fitted the Abbott racing delivery pipe actually wrapped in gold heatwrap because I had some left over, makes a nice difference!

Heyyy there she is! Nice work and nice to see another 9000 being treated well and looked after, good man!
I replaced the rear Saab emblem on mine, was a case of using a sharp tool to stab the middle bit help lift it so you can get an old card under it and ease it up slowly, was abit of pig but got it off without further breakages to the rear panel.
I will be getting rid of my open lug Aero alloys too next year and my Abbott racing exhaust system too, I just need to find some decent Compomotives before I can let them go.

When you get into your 30's, like I am mid way through mine, you really start to see the appeal of a Volvo. I can appreciate that! I went through that stage in my 20's with an 850 t-5r manual in Gull yellow. I keep looking at this, don't need it cant have it just like it. Needs a manual and not to be broken for parts, keep her going.

That's fair enough all personal preference, you may have to get the rear arches rolled to accommodate the M5 wheels as they are bigger than the parallels.
You may find the sensor still fits, its deceiving as the OE 1 tappers in size from the base up the aftermarket one doesn't.
They have plastic sill covers that cover the bottom of the sills which run the wheelbase of the car, they harbour moisture and are getting common to assist the rot progress in the inner sills on the E39's and is an MOT failure if they get bad enough, seen plenty of these repaired, but as shin says check them out, prevention is better than cure.

Nice cars these, they do everything in comfort and style and are last of the proper BMW era that aren't totally riddled with control units and faulty I drive and ccc units etc and much better drive too IMO.
The Inlet and Exhaust cam sensors are different, the Inlet has a lead attached and the Exhaust doesn't, best place to go is genuine, I've seen aftermarket ones fail more often than not, Inlet cam sensor part number 12147539165 Exhaust cam sensor part number 12147518628 I wouldn't be too fussed about putting the High OBC in as those dash displays break up all the time and need repairs, plus they need coding to vehicle and the tamper dot will appear due to the chassis of the car it was removed from is embedded in the cluster itself, a new unit is £££'s spend the money on some staggered M parallel style 37's oh and those exhaust tail pipes on the sports are stainless and polish up a treat with some wire wool and some Mothers polish or Maguiars

IMO I would keep the engine transplant BMW, they have some cracking motors to choice from, my 328I was putting out 230bhp pre map with mods I did and a friend of mine is getting 240bhp+ out of his N/A 318is M44 lump but that's quite costly getting up to that, his getting it up to 300bhp as we speak with his current build out of a 4 cylinder lump!

Well done sir and good save! I did something very similar last year buying a bog standard 328i coupe for no money at all low owners and full main dealer history etc and saved if from being drifted! A few of my mates tried to convince me to weld the diff up blah blah and they got told where to go, the trouble with these cars is its very easy to spend money on! I did it. Such nice lines and cracking to drive once sorted and set up.
Well done!
