spose i should put up my other retro ride lol its a 1989 mk2 polo breadvan (aka the hatchback model) owned it for about a year and have done a fair bit of work to it i paid £875 for it then (bit of a bad investment 2bh) this is as she was when i got her home on the 1st day :
and the mk1 golf gti wheels that came with her
with one slight problem to me using them
now onto the car :
1st thing i noticed was the rather grey bumpers:
quickly sorted that with some bumperwax from wilkinsons
the put a mix of alloys on her (2 of the ones that she came with and 2 polo hockenheims) would of put all 4 on but 2 had bad tyres on them )
then decided to get a badge from my old mk2 polo coupe s and place that on the front of the car
then unfortunately not long after discovered that the gearbox was shot (made so much noise lol) but was lucky enough to have a spare engine and box sat around in my old mk2 coupe
(quick before and after of the coupe)
Before
After:
all i say is bloody freelanders
well basically took the engine and box out of the coupe and replaced the breadvans one with it
loved it from then lol no noise and she ran so much better,
then after a while got a bit bored with the look of the wheels so one weekend later they went from grey to :
Wonderful white lol
before and after pic:
then again drove it around for a while like that then decided to try and make some angel eye headlights for it (basically took apart the existing headlights and added a light round the inside)
didn't really work aswell as i had hoped
as you can see in this pic
then after about 2/3 months suffered 2 blow-outs on the back tyres (luckily was only doing 15mph) and discovered that there was now 2 hollow tubes in my rear tyres
so back on with the tarantulas at the back it was
then about a 3 months ago got bored with the colour of the tarantulas and decided to spray the red but unfortunately they came out orange :
and also tinted the rear windows with 95% tint, then drove it like that and about a month back ran out of insurance and she came of the road as i couldn't afford to re insure her and since then i have lowered the back more after realising the rear suspension hadn't been assembled correctly
before:
and after
and semi smoothed the boot and sprayed that matt black
during the smoothing:
and after
then tried my dads 14" bmw bbs on her and realised that wouldn't work with the arches lol
(btw they are for sale if anyone's interested 4X100 14")
and now she is sat at the end of my drive looking sorry for herself as she now needs the works (mot, tax, and insurance) and unfortunately as i don't work atm i cant afford to put her back on the road
and thats as far as ive got lol
