Just went out for a bike ride and saw a sign advertising a house clearance. I've got a bit of a thing for all things retro so stopped to have a look. It was an old boy selling everything he owned to move to a small house. I bought a really cool old Puch push bike which I'll do a thread in another section. I was just leaving when something lime green and almost completely covered in old cardboard boxes caught my eye in the garage. Turned out to be a 1980 TR7 Drophead. I had a chat with the owner - turns out he's an ex Leyland employee, he bought the car when it was 5 months old direct from BL (it had been one of the bosses company cars) in August 1980. He'd owned it ever since and used it on sunny summer days only, hence the fact that it's only done 28k miles Full history - last used 2 years ago as his bad back has stopped him driving it since. Anyway, long story short, I've just brought it home ;D Pics when I've washed 2 years of dust and cat hair off it

Welcome to the club - we're taking over the forum!
That's about the best colour for a DHC, and one of the rarest too (Triton Green).
I trust it was a bargain?
Wanna buy some MGF wheels?

Thanks mate, I like it. Never had a TR7 before and don't really know anything about them but it was a bargain and I love the quirkyness of it, and the colour ;D Will think about the wheels - depends how much I have to spend to get it back on the road as this is going to be a budget project - or that's what I keep telling myself I bought some of those scrappage scheme survivor stickers on here a while ago - didn't really know where they would end up but this seemed the perfect candidate to get one

She lives !! some tweaking with the points, a fresh battery and fresh fuel and away she went ;D I've taken it for it's maiden voyage to my mates workshop so we could put it on the ramp - really impressed No rot and everything looks good, brakes are a bit soft and the back end is a bit wallow-y so new rear shocks would be a good idea but other than that it doesn't look like project TR7 will need much for an MoT. Even the pop up headlights work I am now a happy chap ;D

Awesome purchasing skills... I want to go out and buy a pint of milk with you Don't laugh - one of my other half's favorite stories about my mental illness / unreasonable obsession / interest in old cars is that about 15 years ago I went out one Sunday morning to get bread, milk and bacon to make breakfast and saw this Audi parked outside the co-op with a for sale sign in the window. I was so excited I bought it there and then and forgot the breakfast stuff She's used to me coming home with odd cars - it was missing breakfast that got her really annoyed As a huge Gene Hunt fan I wish I'd kept it, but to be honest it was a dog of a car ;D

Hats off to you, that looks an epic find, certainly looks from the pictures to be in fairly straight good condition for a TR7. And I suppose you bought it for a price that would make me weep lol...
