Baby blue Chevette saloon, V plate. Originally bought off yoeddynz during his clearout when he was in the throws of moving to NewZealand back in November 09. It was purchased to be a present for my daughter but plans changed and she was given a sweet Nova In the meantime it has sat down the farm gathering moss But... Today was the day we went down with a charged battery and fired her up, with no problems Backed her out of the space, quick check of lights, wipers etc and a lurch forward and back to check the brakes and off we went. Fuel gauge read empty but it's only about 3 miles so lets take a chance ;D So now she is home and parked outside the garage, the garage is very nearly clear as well so she will be in very soon. First job is to remove the bumpers so I can get it bolted to the tilter and get welding Hopefully updates will follow, give me a nudge if it goes quiet ;D

Would need a suitable 'box such as a Manta or Carlton, would also need some alterations to the sump but mounting would be easy.......i'd even wire it up for you

Yay, chevette The sri130 lump in terms of getting it working in the vette is the same as redtops - mounts and sump from a manta, the distributor is very tight against the bulkhead but it's possible. Gearbox wise - manta box is the easiest. Type 9 works via a bellhousing but it gets a little expensive - the bellhousings are £150ish, then clutch needs piecing together from different parts. Omega boxes work also but they are hydraulic clutch and will need the tunnel massaging for one of those to go in. If you're keeping the live axle then make sure you go for a box with a sliding prop end like a type 9.

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!! ;D So glad Hannahs little chevette is getting rescued. When i looked at doing the sills before you picked her up they are all original (well whats left of them)and fortunately I think the inner sills were still solid- shouldn't be a biggy to weld up. It had a real random miss - only sometimes though. will be something reaaly simple like a loose connection. Uses a tiny bit of oil- but boy it went well and was so cheap to run! And I think it handled a lot better then the hatches we have always had in the past! So glad! keep us posted! alex

Thought you might be pleased Alex, Today I gave her a dose of TFR and went over with a jet wash just to get rid of the green and most of any mud under the wings. Tried to start her up but ran out of petrol straight away so that was close ;D I then removed both bumpers and added a strengthening piece to each side of the rear mounting points so I could bolt the temporary bumper on If you didn't guess that is a beam for the chassis tilter Originally made for a Mustang but a disc cutter and a bit of time with a hacksaw and welder made it fit Just gotta do the front now

Today I wanted the front beam on so up and at em as they say So off with the Mustang bracket. A bit of cutting, drilling and welding and we have new brackets that fit the car, Weld them to the beam, And bolt the whole thing up with some big bolts ;D Need some fuel so I can get it into the Garage

yeah nice clean solid welds! Do you have to empty gbox and engine of all fluids I presume before tilting. So handy a device!
