Hi all,
I have my Daily up for sale it is a volvo 940 2.4(6 cylinder) Turbo diesel. It has a 4 speed manual gearbox with overdrive. Its currently on 186k
Mileage - 186k
Mot and Tax - MOT-June 2013, Tax-October 2012(It will come with 6 months tax if the asking price is met)
Condition - Very good, the body work is very straight minus one very small dent that I may be able to repair. The interior is almost perfect! Comes with OEM volvo plastic mats and a load tray in the boot.
Engine -D24t, The engine runs well and other than being smoky on initial start up in the morning, it turns over nicely, when warm its extremely smooth, it also makes a lovely sounds due to having 6 cylinders. Its alot different to a 4 pot diesel. It had its cambelt done on 165k and I serviced it in may, which included oil, filter,Airfilter,Cam cover gasket and tensioning of the fan belt.
The car and my ownership
It has the usuall volvo gadgetry;
-PAS
-Heated seats
-Electric mirrors and windows
-Heated rear screen and mirrors
-A tow hitch
-A load tray(albeit a bit beaten up)
-An aftermarket headunit with AUX(if thats your flavour) The original will be present in the sale.
There is also a box of spares and the Volvo Dealership manual for the D24 engine. Spares box has random bits in there like C pillar speakers, Fuel filter, light cluster, bulbs and some random bits.
I have tinkered with it somewhat since its been in my ownership. I have lowered it by cutting the springs as no company makes lowering springs for the diesel. This has made it sit very nicely with the rear slightly higher than the front, it generally has no trouble over speedbumps unless they are the size of Everest, even fully loaded I am yet to hear and signs of scuffing over normal bumps. It rides very well considering.
I have also adjusted the pre boost enrichment on the fuel pump Bosch VE(so tonnes of potential), which made it go alot better off boost and just as it comes on. It is alot happier going up hills and when loaded since the adjustment, and it makes overtaking on the motorway effortless. The D24 engines are generally quite versatile and with a larger turbo, intercooler, MLS headgasket and some pump mods 200bhp is quite easily attainable with bags of torque.
Also at the start of my ownership I changed the front drop links and track control arms bushes as they were unbelievably perished. This was at the same time as the fluid and filter service.
The Bad bits
It has 2 very minor issues.
One is the small dent on the rear wheels arch that I mentioned above if I have the time I will try my best to repair it.
The other is the speedo plays up a fair bit, its just the speedo the rest of the instruments cluster works without fault. This is extremely common with the 700/900 series volvo, and there is numerous repair guide but I haven't had the time to take a look at it unfortunately.
The car comes with loads and loads of services history, receipts and invoices. It has full volvo service history untill 120k and then reciepts from numerous garages untill I got it, of which I have kept all receipts from GSF and other motor factors. It has been very well looked after throughout its life and is a very honest car.
I am looking for £750 I can include 6 months tax if this price is met.
The car is located in Reading, 10 minutes from junction 12 of the M4
Now pictures these are randoms since I have had it with the later ones with it being lowered...
History and Engine service manual.
When I first bought it
Stripping the suspension for the much needed bushes.
Service bits it received a few months back
Lowered
For those are interested in what it sounds like with a deleted rear box follow the link...
The rear silencer will be on the car for the sale.
