We all like wheels here at RR, that's no secret. We all like different wheels for different reasons. However, we don't all have a wealth of knowledge about the shiny round things and I'm one of those unfortunates. Currently I have a set of VW Tarantula alloys and some standard steel wheels, both of which are due a refurb in a few months as I'll be getting some nice new tyres. Here's where you guys come in. Below are some wheels I've seen that I like, they're all (to my limited knowledge) 4x100 pcd and either 13" or 14". They're also all 6j or narrower. Can you suggest any more to me that I could keep an eye out for and put in my scrapbook for when I have some spare pocket money? Renault 5 TSE Any number of Centra alloys float my boat, but I think most of the ones I've been looking at are 14" which is a smidge larger than I'd like. Renault Fuego I like some 3 spokes too, but the ones I really like are usually found on 4x98 Fiats, and I'm wanting to stick (at the moment) to 4x100. There are wheels I want to avoid. I don't like Minilite style, open spokes (tiny brakes, looks rubbish) and only a very few 4 spoke wheels. Just for fun, I've included a couple of profile pics of my car (I'd get an up to date pic, but at the time of writing he's in bits on axle stands) for those who fancy a bit of photochoppery with wheels, but this is by no means mandatory. All of your help and brain knowledge is greatly appreciated as always.

There's a few original VW wheels listed here that might be of interest if you haven't seen them already.

If you're being sensible, I've always like these SEAT Toledo alloys: They're the right pcd and although they're 14s I think they'd fit under your rear arches with the right tyres? www.adverts.ie/448110But if you're not being sensible and you have a bit of cash then I refer you to the photoshop I did for you ages ago: Actually when I look back on it I'm not convinced by the rear archwork there but the gold wires are a goer for me.

Trippin', bro. I owned those very wheels! I have a green set now, like these ones The green is awful and they need refurbed, which I'll eventually do when I have a need for them. They're 13"s I think - they would suit for you in red with black insets?

dom: Espace = yes, very much. The Clio wheels, while nice, I don't think are what I want, I can't put my finger on it exactly with the Turbines as they should be right, but they're not quite 'it'. The other Clio wheels are lattices, which I'm not a fan of anyway. EmDee: I had not forgotten that chop, I still *really* want a set of those wheels, they're delicious. The Seat wheels a surprising suggestion, they could work very well and I'm guessing will be dirt cheap. surprisingskoda: Maybe polished or high gloss black with red inserts and rim, but yes, they're another favourite. MonzaPhil: I like the pic in your post, that's exactly the sort of clunky style I'm after but what are they? Ian: I like the Ronal Teddies, they appeal to my silliness, but they're the wrong kind of silliness for this car. TurboDieselWeasel: Those are a nice design but as you point out, all the measurements are wrong

They are pretty cool but I think I might have to bid on those odd 3 spoke things MonzaPhil spotted if you ain't having them as they'd look the biz on my Passat and save me having to tube my tyres since the sodding steelies don't hold air...

Nissan Figaro's are 4x100 pcd and have those lovely retro looking smoothies with chrome center caps. Would look rather classy painted red and applied to your polo. Things like morris minor steelies are 4x4" which'd fit with wobble bolts. a banded set of those or some rostyles could work well too.

Jowey: Difficult to find perhaps? They would do the trick very nicely though, I'd not considered those before even though the Figaro is one of my favourite cars to look at.

yugo/fiat/abarth 4x98 13"/14" bigger than you've asked for again 4x98 nice variation on the 6 hole teledial. Audi coupe 4x100 14" '88 Passat optional extras 4x100 14" Vauxhall astra (Mk2?) 4x100 Mazda MX-5 'Daisy's' 4x100 14" Fiat Barchetta steels (think these may be 4x98 and 15") Nissan Cherry Turbo 4x100 14"(i think) Banded rostyles. I think the Figaro ones may well just be very expensive wheel trims.

These are quite squarey and 4x100, but maybe a bit too holey for you regards the brakes being visible?

Jowey: '88 Passat are good, the Nissan Cherry wheels are even better yet. The rostyles idea appeals too, plenty of people seem to have got those banded so width shouldn't be an issue. I'm unsure about the Fiat Barchetta steels, but I can imagine them on a military themed car painted black with the spears painted to look like bullets. I don't think Teledial style is for me either, I do like them on other cars (a two-tone Skoda comes to mind, can't remember whose it is off the top of my head). Clamity: I like the design, but I suspect my brakes are too tiny to do them justice. If nothing else this is helping me work out what I like in a set of wheels and what I don't. Trust me to like stuff that's difficult to find rather than being able to toddle along to Halfords and pick up a set of anything.
