I finished putting a 2.5 Vauxhall engine in a little while ago
had it in Performance ford within a few weeks
then got bored so started doing a remote turbo conversion with a t34 which is nearly finished
I had some head gasket issues with the 2.5 which didn't stop it going like stink but it wouldn't have survived increased cylinder pressures from the turbo so I've swapped the 2.5 for a 3 litre which involved stripping all the ancillaries, loom etc. off the 2.5 and putting them on the 3.0 engine from an Omega
Here's a video of when it was a 2.5 and had a knackered fuel pressure regulator, it revved a lot cleaner after changing it clicky
The 3 litre was in and running but not on the road, I'd spent the weekend sorting out a rear gearbox mount, the captive nuts in the chassis were knackered so we rolled the ka down to a different garage and a mate welded a plate in with new captive nuts
Boost pipes, collectors and some exhaust stuff
Poked a hole through
Mocking up the pipework
The head gasket was shot on the 3.0 engine (which fukced me off a bit!) so while it was done I had these decomp plates fitted lowering the compression ratio so I can run a bit of boost
This lot just needs water and oil plumbed in
Some random photos:
You may recognise Ade off of T4's R Us painting the car
The motorbike fans I was running weren't quite up to the job...
but these bad boys should be, they move 1720cfm each which should help keep it cool
Then I have to mount this swirl pot ready to plumb in the new fuel system
picked this lot up today ready to make the new fuel supply
This will take a feed from two fuel pumps
.. along the floor, up and through the bulkhead into the adjustable fuel pressure regulator then into the rail
... then out of the rail back through the bulkhead and back to the swirl pot then a return from the swirl pot back to the tank
The stainless hose is 3/8" ID (9.5mm) which should be more than enough supply for the volvo t5 injectors I have, they'll do 350cc/min @ 3 bar as opposed to the 204cc/min the standard v6 injectors, game on
This lot served from the swirl pot should give me a good fuel supply
