Hi All,
Just joined yesterday, here's a few details and couple of pictures of my Morris Minor Pick-Up with 2 litre Fiat Twin-Cam.
I know that nowadays using a Fiat Twin-Cam is a bit "old-hat", but I was inspired to do this back in the early 90's - it just took me a long time to get it finished! I started doing the conversion in 1994, but "real life" got in the way and I didn't get the car back on the road until 2008!
- I bought a Supermirafiori 131 for £70 (in 1994!) and drove it back from London to Oxford. Car made it back OK, but the rear bumper fell off on the way home! Being lucky enough to buy a complete car was a great way of getting all the bits needed to get the engine running in the Minor.
- I used the Unique Autocraft fitting kit - engine mounts, gearbox x-member, exhaust downpipe, oil filter inverter block, extension on the clutch pedal for the fiat clutch cable. Radiator made up to fit. Nissan Cherry electric fan (nice and thin - not much room.). Custom-made prop. Marina rear axle.
- Engine is still completely stock - Marelli electronic ignition, mechanical fuel pump, standard single Weber 34ADF54/250 carb.
- Usual disc brakes and telescopic shockers on the front.
Of course, there's still plenty of tidying-up and re-painting to do. I know it looks quite scruffy close-up, but after a few years thinking about doing this, and then after so many years working on it, it's just been great to finally start driving it during the last few years.
