Love it! Love the colour too!
There is a mint blue one that lives near me and does the shows. I always stop and stare at it for ages whenever I see it.
What are the plans if any?

Great plans! I'd love to do the same, it would be a real adventure! I might do something similar this year if I can Will it work out cost effective to buy over there and drive it to the UK or is it more about the fun of it all?

Fantastic! I'm really fond of this vintage of Skoda, both the saloon and the coupe. They're definitely on my "want" list! With regards the engine, would it not be just as easy to put a 1300 in it? I thought they were the same basic block, but perhaps I'm mistaken. Would be nice to see photos of your trip to bring it back to the UK!

With regards the engine, would it not be just as easy to put a 1300 in it? I thought they were the same basic block, but perhaps I'm mistaken. you 'can' fit a 1400 from a much later felicia (same block) but there are issues with crank bearings/flywheels/gearbox spigot and some other such stuff. Something like a 1200 i think is a more ready fit, but a 136 rapid engine would just about bolt straight in.

I remember they had one or 2 in Practical Classic. One was in a feature about winter cars. Think they got it from the owners club. One of the staff had one in bits too

Tis true, any Skoda engine (true Skud, not VW Skud) engine would bolt to the transaxle but the later (136 Rapid, Favorit, Felicia, etc) engines have 8 port alloy heads, and there isnt clearance for the exhaust manifold next to the radiator unless you get a 4 branch specially made....
The Felicia 1.9 Diesel uses a vw engine mated to a Skoda gearbox using an adapter which means using this adapter, most vw engines could be fitted. VR6 anybody..... ;D
I think the waggly swing axles would give an entertaining drive.....
Another issue is that standard they have a 4.44 / 1 diff ratio so its going to screaming is ring piece off anyway. Later 4 speed estelle's have 4.22 transaxles so would be a worthy upgrade. The 130 5 port engines are getting a bit thin on the ground, so thought a 120 a bit more easy to find, less likely to have a cracked iron head and should have enough poke.
