Mk2 Golf 1.6 8v Driver. MOT 13th August 2011, Tax til End of March
This has been my winter daily driver, and it’s not missed a beat once since I’ve had it, I’m only selling as I'm putting my BMW back on the road. I’ve got old MOTs and receipts for it going back as far as 1996. It’s done 190k miles, but don’t let that put you off, it drives a lot better than some I’ve had with less than half the mileage. It’s also had a carb rebuild in the recent past, so suffers from none of the problems you get with Pierburg carbs. Everything unlocks with one key, and I have all the manuals and service book to go with it, it had full main dealer history up to 100k, and I have evidence of servicing since then too.
It’s very economical to run, and will cruise at 75-80 all day long with no fuss.
Since I’ve had it it’s had:
Brand new hottuning coilovers and 2 x brand new top mounts - £230
Mint Mk3 GTi interior (fitted to the mk2 bases) with zero bolster wear - £60
Early spec 7 slat single lamp grille - £30
The bad points:
Slight 2nd gear crunch when it’s cold, goes away within the 1st mile of any journey.
Minor rust starting on rear arches, and 2 dents in the bonnet, otherwise it’s very clean (although it does need a wash )
