This rings a bell. Is this the son of the chap who was putting the cresta shell on a jag chassis car? Seem to remember a fwd viva being built by them.

One of the best convertible conversions i've seen, proportions are spot on.

I assume its more of a cruiser than a racer so won't make any difference. I'd have left it RWD, but seen a few FWD conversions now and I can sort of see the point.

One susupects theres an Astra or Escort convertible living under that body; I'm assuming that targa bar is tied into the floorpan.

I expect it'd be quick, useable and reliable. The fact that it wouldn't go sideways doesn't exactly render it useless. Looks like an Viva but behaves like a modern? Doesn't seem so bad to me.

engine bay is Mk2/3 Astra or Mk3 Cavalier. Thats why its FWD. Location of servo and steering rack is the give away, shape of the suspension turret on the left of the photo confirms it.

One susupects theres an Astra or Escort convertible living under that body; I'm assuming that targa bar is tied into the floorpan. I thought that too. Looks too well built in. Also the fact the engine bay, INC the strut turrets is astra... Surely that makes this thing totally illegal? Its litterally a chop job..

Thats a neat conversion, thats for sure....Can you tell me any issues you had when you presented it at the VOSA testing station for it's B.I.V.A? And also, how did you manage to keep it's tax exempt status, as I've been told once it goes for B.I.V.A it becomes first registered from that date. If it hasn't gone for a B.I.V.A, the guy selling it is really really really brave to show the reg number online where anyone could report it to the VOSA!!!

I'd be interested to know how he's done with BIVA too. I've got all the bits for a project and daren't start it.

I'm not completely useless, I can be used as a bad example.

Maybe it was done before beaver tests and that had been invented. Looks like an absolutely class job though.

Surely that makes this thing totally illegal? Its litterally a chop job.. If you look closely, this thing is well built, its got curse word like side repeaters, modern dash with no sharp edges etc, I reckon apart from the door handles and the wipers this would go through a B.I.V.A.....only thing I cant understand is how the hell hes managed to keep it tax exampt? I've checked, My Escort can get through a B.I.V.A in theroy, but I personally don't want to loose my tax exempt status.

Maybe it was done before beaver tests and that had been invented. Looks like an absolutely class job though. Possibly....but then it would have had to go for the pervious test, SVA, and that would have stripped the plate of it and the exempt status....yet it clearly says on the listing, tax exempt. Now, don't get me wrong, all power to the guy if hes just taken this for an mot and thumbed his nose at vosa....but all it takes is 1 phone call to vosa with the reg number, and this cars in for a world of pain.

Oh yeah, I'm not denying it looks like a top class job. And whoever did it is a realy skilled person.
But if theres enough viva there to be tax exempt and hold that plate. Surely theres not enough viva left thru the roof chop, beam conversion and FWD conversion... Its a bit all over the place realy...
