Afaik the IC is the same on the Aero & later CSE models mate. I know some 9000's didnt come with an IC so maybe he's added one at some point? The standard one is good for around 280 (I think??) so you'll be fine on the T25 budd. With the cheap prices of these Chinese eBay ones I'd go for them instead of paying over £500 for an Abbott or Maptun one if you did upgrade it further down the line....they charge the earth so much cheaper options available if you look around. Ref the gearbox- As long as you don't constantly boot it in 1st & drag it off the line it should be ok mate, I killed my 1st box doing this I just stuck some Amsoil in this one as it felt a bit notchy/crunchy and it's made the changes a lot better...also the Amsoil gave my last box around 5/6 weeks extra life before I blew it up racing a tuned Volvo V70R (quick car that V70!!) I'm hoping this 4.05 will last until next year then I'll fit another bonkers 4.45 ;D

I think I read up CSE's had ICs from 94 or 95, so this should have had one as standard. I'll have to ask my dad all of this tomorrow.
It's not me booting it in 1st I'm worried about, I'm sure it'll be fine though. Can't wait to have a long relaxed motorway cruise without doing 4000rpm at 70 and being thrown all over the place by the road. And to have leccy windows, air con, cruise control etc. Luxuries ;D

Intercooler's now fitted. The blokes spent hours getting it on there..my fault as I messed up with the pipework & they needed to fab a few things up. Did well though!! Delivery pipe had to be slightly modded to fit the IC Drives a little better than before, can now do a load more decent pulls without the power dropping off, used to have to calm down after 2 or 3 hard pulls in 3rd & 4th!! Seems to pull a lot harder than before...4th gear is scary quick if you boot it at 100 Got the 60-100 down to 4.1 secs so 0.2/0.3 secs off the Abbott IC! Doesn't sound like a lot but its edging closer to 3.5 secs each month now!! Picked up some more thinners (50 liters of the devils juice!!) and will add them this week...hoping to get around 3.7 secs 60-100 then and 0-100 in sub 10 secs...10.3 atm My shiny new hose clamps still haven't turned up Week late now!! I'll swap these over this weekend if they arrive in time. The RH IC hose keeps popping off so I'm driving it sensibly until that's sorted!!

Also tried to get a little more boost out of it! Were still not 100% on what its boosting at the moment...the gauge doesn't seem to be that accurate (50 quid well spent there then : It showed 2 bar a couple months back but on the T5 Suite logs it was 1.7 bar, have since adjusted the actuator by a few turns so its coming in a bit harder now. One quick mod I got told to try was pull the small white plastic bung out of the APC valve Was hoping this would add a bit more boost but as the gauge is curse word!!! still no idea where its at. Anyway...pulled the bung, gave it some welly on the bypass and that's when it pooped the IC hose. Could have been the hose was getting loose anyway and was about to go...or it did hit some decent boost number and that did it! I'll try again when the new clamps are on. This missing 0.2 bar of boost's frustrating....so close to my 500bhp goal now but just cant get it Also been thinking about next years project car...has anyone got experience of a GT35R or big Holset turbo? Trying to weigh up which one to fit on the new car.

Inspired by you and the other Saab guys, saw this come up locally at a good price, £500 but got it for £400 so could not resist! Saab 9000 CSE 2.3 Turbo (full pressure) 97 P , 140k with FSSH. Mint inside and very good outisde apart from one bubbling arch. Has 4 months MOT and 5 months tax. Going to run it til MOT ends and if it passes without to much needed do the body work, if not Ill probably break it and see what I can make back!

400 quid!!!! Bargain! Looks in better nick than mine!! This ones slowly rusting away Yeah see how it gets on with the mot mate, might fly through you never know Plenty of help/advice on the forums to get any bits you might need anyway. Before you get break it/sell on defo worth taking it to stage 1 for a bit more extra oomph ;D Just ask on UKS and someone will be able to do it for a few beer tokens...be rude not to as its only a quick ECU remap and gives a decent power hike I think the FPT comes with 200bhp though so you might find it has enough poke for now. My old CDE was a 2.3 FPT auto had a Nordic stage 1 ECU... went well on the motorway run, could catch a few bigger engined BMW & Audi's out anyway! Trying to stop it was another story though!!

Cheers, took it out today, did not feel that rapid from standing start, but maybe its the auto box, seems to be boosting ok, but seemed to be better one it was up and running pulling from 40mph up

I remember my first Saab a bog standard 2 litre lpt CSE used to take around 8.5 secs to 60, so not that quick standard tbh.... but my stage 1 2.3 fpt was a fair bit quicker in 1st & 2nd but was limited to base boost here to save the autobox & had a load more poke in 3rd & 4th, kickdown was pretty good from 4th to 3rd!! Just took off compared to the CSE. I cant remember what the boost was set at stage 1 though?? Both cars were auto with the t25.
If it's sluggish try a known working APC valve as mine failed last year and was stuck in base boost for a week with us scratching our heads!! I've also had a dodgy DI which sapped the power, but that felt like it was missing....I'd stick some new NGK plugs in mate, cheap as chips on eBay @ around a quid each!! I'm using NGK BCR8ES in mine which seem to work fine, but had 7's in my CSE and they were also fine (can't remember the part number now sorry budd!!) Ah!! The only other thing I can think of that happened to my CSE which felt very sluggish was the actuator R clip snapped so the actuator arm fell off....That was stuck in base boost all the way from Newmarket to Wales!!!! Took AGES to get home!!!
HTH Dave

Cheers Dave! Might just be being a little tough on it after having the AMG and the Alfa weighs nothing and has about 200bhp. And not having one before nothing to compare to. I think i will live with it for the moment and see what the MOT comes out like before tinkering.

Duno if you can help with an issue that has arisen, the headlight suddenly decided to turn themselves off while driving.
The turn on fine, you drive on then random time later the cut out, anthor time they are fine entire journey. Holding back for full beam kicks them back in again then they will run fine and cut out again later?!?
Might it be the headlamp dial on the left inside the car (as the pull back for full beam works fine)?
It's a shame as paprt from this its running great! Can't beleive how quiet and smooth it is for a 14yr old car! And the seats are so comfy! Defo keeping it if it passed the next MOT and I can get these lights sorted without a big spend!

I'm not sure mate, never had that problem... you could try a new switch? eBay or breakers yards your best bet. Might be worth asking on UKS as I'm sure someone on there's had a similar problem, could be something simple? The electrics do play up now and again on mine. Mostly the wipers/screen washers (always playing up & still haven't sorted it!!!) and it got all fussy last year when I fitted stronger headlamps!! Pressed the foot brake and they'd come on...almost wrote the thing off as someone thought I flashed them out!!!
Forgot- Try the relays under the fuse box mate, not sure which one you need here but I've had these go a few times mostly wipers again!! Worth getting a full spare set as they come in handy.

Tiny tiny update I've been after a Lawicel CAN USB for ages for data logging and then later when I'm used to it some live mapping but the price of it kept putting me off (around £120) so settled for a USB BDM last year instead which lets me map the ecu off the car but never really got it up & running!! this: Then one of the guys on UKS suggested getting a Combiadapter from the guy I bought the BDM from last year instead as this will enable me to both map the ecu on & off the car, plus its a fair bit cheaper than the Lawicel!! Also lets me monitor EGT's and I think I can stick a wideband on there...probably does a few other things so I need to read up a bit more on it! So last week this turned up: One of the guys is making up the lead for me to connect to the car (my soldering's terrible!!) and then I should be ready for some data logging and once I'm used to it I'll have a crack at live mapping & trying out different maps from other guys tunes Just need to make up a hard case for it next week and I should be good to go ;D Further engine/suspension mods are on hold for now until I get the rusty arches looked at, but if I do decide to keep & fix it the plan is to go for a complete colour change with either a satin black or dark grey vinyl wrap or full satin respray for a similar look to this: but with a more sheen to the finish: Still got the windows to tint (had the film ages ) just need a couple days good weather to do it The rust is really doing my head in now!! All arches are shot so it needs attention

i was put off by the cost of the can lead which is a pain as i had a small 12volt pc and touch screen i could use to data log via t5 suite fingers crossed someone will sell theirs or offer to make one up one day!

So much for my "further engine mods are on hold" quote!! That's just gone for a burton! Have bought a tubular manifold for the car ;D www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Saab-9000-Stainless-Tubular-Manifold-/220889207332?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item336e05d224Should be here in the next couple days. Hopefully it'll bolt straight up without any messing with the 3"DP otherwise I'll have to get a bit of flexi pipe welded into the exhaust to get it in there (good excuse for a decat ) I've sold the Nissan Pulsar tubular to fund this one...was a bit too much messing to fit anyway especially when this new ones a bolt on job. I should have the cable for the CombiAdapter this week so the plan for Jan/Feb is to map it on Momentum and thinners for a bit more ooomph....hopefully this will now crack 500bhp. Probably get shot down for this as the dyno was 450 on Vpower but it feels like a good 470ish at the moment with the thinners so fingers crossed it'll do it! Pretty excited about this tubular! Been after one for a year now but couldn't stretch to £700+ for the Maptun one plus a couple hundred to fit it Havent managed to get many timed vids in with the weather but these are the last lot: 0-60 in 5, and 0-100 in 10.1 secs 60-100 in 3.8 secs I know with some work & fresh tyres I could get the 0-60 a tad lower but not by much as 1st & 2nd just go loopy when I boot it!! (plus it'll kill the box in no time) so not really worth it, I'll just concentrate on 3rd gears 60-100 and get a slightly quicker 0-100, aim is closer to 9 secs to 100 and 3.5 secs on the 60-100. 4th gear @ 100+ I'm happy with. Just hope the box doesn't explode

Love these cars, last of the "Proper" SAAB's imo, really good engines that can take a lot of power, iirc there was one on PH Tuned by MAPTUN to around the 580 bhp mark! Enjoy.

Hi, yeah it's been a great car to be fair. Only had a couple problems with it in close to 3 years. Been a lot more reliable with the bigger turbo which is weird!! If it's the same car on PH that might be the red one that's had pretty much the whole Maptun treatment with a GT35R, Quaiffe box etc etc I think it's around 530 bhp and was up for around the £10k mark way out of my price range. I'm feeling the itch for another turbo on this one now! Been fancying a Holset Super HX40 next for some big power figures, meant to be just as drivable as this 3076 but with much more power up top... but it's gonna be a bit expensive as I'll also need forged pistons etc here to push north of 600 bhp May aswel do it! Best had before any kids come along and ruin my life for ever

Thanks Yeah will be interesting to see how much extra power the tubular gives. After some more digging it might even be a tad more laggy but give more power up top as the runners are 42mm, a couple of the guys have them a bit thinner at 38mm to help with the earlier spool up on the bigger turbo's...we'll see how it goes. Was hoping for an earlier spool up and a bit more oomph up top Guess you cant have it all!! I've just ordered a replacement air filter for it. Currently has a Blitz Sonic Power filter but I prefer the sound of my old Abbott Racing one, sounded like a 747 on take off! (its basically a ITG Maxogen filter in a Carbon Fibre enclosure) check the price out on these new from Abbott's though!!! Ridiculously expensive....and this is before the 20% vat & delivery!!! www.abbottracing.net/product.php?id_product=55I've just paid 56 quid for a 99mm filter from camskill! Seems the cheapest I can find. Jubilee clip it to the 3" intake pipe and job done! Just needed a 4" to 3" silicone reducer and a 4" clip. www.camskill.co.uk/m35b0s3496p63341/_ITG_-_Maxogen_Air_Filter_-_JC60_99_They list these for different BHP ratings....not sure how essential that is as all my old air filters came in the same size regardless of what car/power it was! But thought I'd best get one for 520bhp for the price. 520's probably the max I'll get out of it. Also found out earlier that my cable has turned up for the combiadapter, just need to fit it into a Super8 camcorder cassette case then I should be good to go for some live mapping in Jan!! Can't wait to get stuck into that side of things.
