After the destruction of my monza inner wings on Sunday see here, I`ve just started the repair process tonight in the hope of getting it ready for C.A.R.S.
Before I start just like to say a quick thank you once again to Bstardchild for recommendations and shed loads of pictures to help with the rebuild.
The bonnet has always been slightly out of line and its probably due to a previous inner wing repair that wasnt realigned properely, it was never this bad though
Jacked the car up from the X-memberand as Ian said, it started sagging back towards its original position. Didnt go all the way though so had to use my svelte 140kg frame to assist it back into place ;D
Lifted the bonnet and did a bit of calculation everything seems very close to being back in line now but it seems like the passenger strut top is leaning in around 5mm from where it has torn away from the inner wing. Need to double check a few dimensions to confirm this though.
Started stripping the front end off ready for the repair.
Front panel is going to require a few small repairs as well
Previous repair where it has pulled away from wing like a dogs hind leg
Innerwing reinforcement is actually quite good condition, but the steel has been ripped due to wing flex....
Which has probably started from here
Bear in mind this was MOT`ed about a month ago and there was no signs of any of this then. I had even had the passenger side strut off at the time to change a spring.
Passenger side is still looking pretty solid.
Did record a short film as well but was difficult to make out. But my putting my foot on the wheel while it was jacked up and pressing down I can make the full innerwing move 10-15mm ;D
The joys of retro ownership
