Forgive my ignorance but I could be interested in the Gas bottle. I currently run disposable bottles on a clarke mig 151 TE welder and mostly weld mild steel.
AS you would imagine I am a little intoxicated off with bottle prices so am looking for a refillable alternative, Would this be suitable and what else would I need to convert do you think
Also having spoken to my local BOC agent they say there is no exchange system, only accounts with bottle rental, so how does the exchange system work?

I'm have the same situation, you cant exchange them...
you need to find someone who has a half bottle and an account, get them to exchange it for you.

even if you have an account you cant do it, as all bottle serial numbers are logged in and out so you can only return the bottle you gave them, not one with another number. i know a guy who acquired a few half full bottles at a knock down rate from a bankruptcy sale- but once they're empty they're scrap- i wouldnt even bother trying tp give them back to BOC, as he tried and they basically accused him of nicking them!

BOC only exchange empty for full to account holders, you rent the bottle (pay it once a year) that they give you free(as part of the rental) and pay for the refill after they invoice you.A spare empty is handy to have if you want a full bottle before your other bottle is ready to be exchanged.

I believe that would be the case, but i know that in my local BOC agents, they don't check, you just roll your empty into the corner of the yard and go sign for a new one.job done;)

i wish it was still like that here, as as you say it would be handy to have a backup bottle- sadly the only way of doing that here would be to rent two bottles- they're almost under armed guard at our local depot!!
