Well its about time I shared my 1st real ebay purchase. I've had it about three weeks now and there's been some rust and then some more rust then silicone welds, cardboard inner sills, rubber matting and fiberglass holding it together but on the upside the brakes work the engine runs and drives and I could put a surf board on the roof (but I can't surf) Anyway new panels arrived today and the welders standing by in the garage hopefully I will be a half decent welder by the end of this ;D Some pictures Removed those horrid wing mirrors and nosed it (If that's the right term) and that's not my tub of Stevens fiberglass filler I use IsoponThe not so good pictures. This fell of when I started digging (Its the bottom of the wing below the bumper) I'm thinking mini back valance cut in half quick trim and weld on both sides hopefully. This pic sums it up (someone had to save it)

NOMNOMNOM.... I want to fly by and have a little looksee at this at some point and I see you've already got giddy with the squirrel brush. The question is, when its done, which will your dad be driving so you can have your own little convoy I might see if I can convince you to do a little bit of striping on escRot when it comes back.

That is cool as a very cool thing Love the pin striping as well, your work obviously? I'd love to see one of these done in a Foose style, although it probably just needs a surfboard like you say who cares if you can use it

Am confused about a couple of things.... - you are in UK I assume....are those actually USA plates, was this (re)imported from USA?
- is the other car in the pic the same type?
- I can't see any wing mirrors or tub of filler
Good luck with it tho. The sight of all that rust can be disheartening but it isn't really harder to fix a big rusted area than a small one. You just need to focus on one bit at a time.

Filler is middle left of the pic. When I went to the states none of the cool surfer guys had boards on the roof, they just smashed the back window and chucked them in through there.

Cool! As I'm sure you know early estates are pretty thin on the ground. Hope its not too bad underneath.

Thanks for all the kind words Am confused about a couple of things.... - you are in UK I assume....are those actually USA plates, was this (re)imported from USA?

Good luck with it tho. The sight of all that rust can be disheartening but it isn't really harder to fix a big rusted area than a small one. You just need to focus on one bit at a time. Now to clear some confusion - The US plates are just for a quick picture it has not been (re)imported.
- The other car in the pic is virtually the same only a saloon.
- As for the wing mirrors forgot to take a picture, they where rusty, flakey and cracked.
Yes like you say focus on a piece at a time that sounds like a plan

Very cool car. More pics of the estate and the saloon please!
I bought my own clipper blue series V Oxford when I was 17 for parts to use on a Riley 4/72, but restored the Oxford instead because the fins were bigger! When I got mine, you could open the passenger door, catch it as it fell and move it out of the way. If you ducked, you could then walk to the gearbox.... So I can safely say been there, done that, but it will be well worth it when finished.

That's a pretty amazing old riveted 'repair' on that wing! Good to see you're making progress on it.

This is so cool, arguably cooler than the saloon Also, having seen it in the flesh I can say the work you've done is amazing and the custom touches are so choice. You really do have some skills and a bloody good eye. So, have you and your Dad worked out whos driving which to the next Leeds cruise?

Thanks for the encouraging comments pid363: Yes my Dad is on the farina forum he posts up on there occasionally. Were just testing the water on how much the purists react to a rare car being modded?? airspeed: Yes bigger fins are better. Clipper blue is one of the colours I have in the line up sheffieldcortinacentre: Winner There was also a glycol thermometer ally sign and some early reflective road signs. Seth: Glad to see your making progress with your oxford as well. I will park next to it one day ;D contractman: Hopefully is should be in the end. bryn: Thanks I will have to hit it with the stick very soon mk14dr: Yeah I should be down at Leeds Cruise but I have no one to drive the saloon? luckygti: Yeah I'd love to know who did the bodges I suppose it would have gone to the scrapers if they hadn't bodged it up (So I should really thank them?) So after some more digging about I found some more rust holes. this was also found under a pop on ally sign popped front outriggers?? So after discovering all this a trip to the nearest classic scrap yard and I come home with these Even bigger fins of a recked A55 Near perfect passenger's front door and a carpet set now half eaten by a rat that use to live in the garage!! More updates to follow
