Plan of attack:
-Keep the wheels -Drop it 2" -Cover the remaining 2" gap with some JDM style arches
That how I would do it.
The other alloys aren't too bad either.

I`m starting to like the 15`s I think they would look better when the Van`s been hit with the stick

Google hunting... I'm with the 14" wheels and lowering combo for it, I think the 15"s are just a bit too big and the 13"s just a bit too small. I think of all of the above I like the wheels on the last one the most, I'm not sure but I *think* they might be Cosmics.

They don't look too small in the arches, it's just that it's not low enough! that's what's wrong but I can understand the troubles with notching and such, so your plan with the 2" drop and the bolt on arches sounds a plan that's definately worth trying...

Hi After reading RatDat`s website i should be able to get the rear down by 3" by decambering the leafsprings and reversing the spring eyes, (just got to look out for a pair of rear springs to send off)
Cheers Adrian

Also looking to extend the body to the same level as the cab!

Hi Guys
I`ve only been doing mechanical work upto now Mot,Brake bias valve cambelt etc.. And just driving the wheels of the thing, I`ve bought some spare front struts and rear leaf springs so i can work out how to get it lower without taking it off the road for to long.
I live in Falmouth and work in Truro what are you driving now Pete??
Hijet Pcd is 110mm so Ford wheels will fit with wobble bolts
Cheers Adrian

Google hunting... I can tell you these are from a 1981-1984 Mazda Rx7. They are 13x5.5 et20 and 4x110 PCD. I have in fact got a set of 5 collecting dust/leaves in my garden! I'm in the 14s or 13s camp, not keen on the 15s. The blue and white looks good though

I've tried the bottle jack and jig method. I'm currently riding reversed eyes on my hijet. Ride is wibblepoo as the cut down bumpstops hit the chassis pretty easily. Personally I think its a bit of a waste of time trying to get a Van (pick ups got more clearance) lowered more than about 3cm unless you want to notch the chassis. Removing the overload spring and putting a bend at the back of the main leaf was the best ride I found, currently wishing I never bothered reversing mine.

I was pleasnatly surprised how nice the ride was on my Rascal - and that was after loweing it nearly 6" (14cm to be precise - nearly five times more than you're suggesting) Anyone who was on the campsite at the Gathering can vouch for how bumpy/rough the site was, yet I loved driving the Rascal around on that too. Low doesn't have to mean uncomfortable. Please don't give up.

yeah but bruce, you have the colour and wheels to pull that off but yeah id say a good 4-5" drop with something like superlights or ultralights would look good

There's def no way of lowering it much without notching the chassis. I've spent many a hour laying on my back under mine pondering it. I only wish it was different.
