Hi Guys I`ve been searching for a Hijet for a while (after seeing Bruce`s Rascal thread) I`ve known about this one for a while and i`ve finally got the owner to part with it, I`m picking it up on monday I hate the wheels so will be changing those soon,(I`m unsure of what wheels would suit it but i`m thinking 14" and cheap,If anyone has any thoughts on what wheels to get please let me know) Cheers Adrian

Don't show this to Butterz! That's like a complete house camper for him Nice bud, I'd agree with some dish on the wheels too. some slightly smaller rims and larger profile would suit

Blimey you got it in one ;D It`s parked on the road between the park and skate plaza, It`s spring over axle so an axle flip may be on the cards,(and remove 1/2 tonne of Mdf out of the back,Diy camper conversion) Cheers Adrian

Ha! No way - I haven't been there is about 5 years when I was working as a painter up on the new estate up by the station. I recognise the thick salty Cornish air......

I've always been drawn to those, as a sort of non wibblepoo version of a rascal... which is odd as i'm quite large and they're very small. It needs smaller wheels definitley, should greatly improve its ability to not fall over.

Strangely i`m quite large as well (18 stone ) I wanted one of these instead of a rascal because the Mpg is so much better also because its hi-top i can fit scooters/mtb`s in it or 6 people Cheers Adrian

Looking forward to seeing this progress... I have a soft spot for daft little vans.
What size wheels did these things have originally? 10" or 12"? Either way, there's bound to be wheels from some classic that fit with or without an adapter. Either that, or find someone to band some steels that came on it originally.
Wonder if it would suit those plastic arches you often see fitted to MX5s and the like? It'd have to be cut in sections at the front though so you could actually open the doors...

Hi They have 12" wheels as standard (afaik) The Pcd is 110 so very rare but Ford/Peugeot 108 Pcd fit with wobble bolts, I`ve seen them with Mini arch spats fitted but i`m not sure i like them with arches?
Cheers Adrian

Hi Guys Started getting the Hijet ready for Mot and sorting things out (cracked rear light, missing window winders etc..) I could`nt resist trial fitting a Capri 4 spoke 13x6 Alloy (just to check the size before i bought my revvies) And god do they look awful They`ve got 185/60/13 tyres and they still look to small in the arches, I would have to drop the van in excess of 5" which isnt possible or practical, So i`m thinking either 14" or a better looking set of 15" Cheers Adrian

Yeah 14s + drop would be better. Still looks good though!

They don't look too small in the arches, it's just that it's not low enough!

Trouble is you can`t lower the width of the arch Also to get it that low would require notching the rear chassis and removing the front struts altogether Lol
