I've just been thinking about changing my car again. I need to find something with cheaper insurance (which probably wont happen). I'm 23, live in Manchester, have 2 years NCB, been driving for 6 years and am a self empoyled music tutor.
I did have a ford escort M reg 1.4 and they wanted about £80 a month. I now have a focus 1.4 and they want £97 a month. I'm sure this will go up when August/renewal comes round and even still its too much now.
But my question is... I have always since day one wanted an Escort mk3 1.3 L (which I thought must be cheap insurance) and it seems whenever i use a compare website i get quoted more than the newer escort i originally had. To be honest i havnt tried Direct Line who I'm with yet. I did try Classic insurance and they wont touch me. Any ideas on who i can go with or if I'm right about this car being more expensive to insure?
I thought it might be less because its older etc. Is this something that happens when you start buying cars that are just a bit older etc? I was thinking maybe because they wont be able to sort the parts and that?
Also what cars are cheap to insure that are retroish? I might go for something else 80s and smaller if its cheap.
Any help appreciated
Thanks, Chris
