will have to get some pics the next time i fill up was on the way to work this morning, noticed a petrol station that sold 4 star - 99p a litre, thought to myself 'bit expensive, but if its hactual 4 star and not LRP then what the hey' it was hactual 4 star, not LRP pulled over, noticed the pumps, proper oldskool stylee, with the spinny dials going round, like something out the 60's. man comes over, asks me for my car keys i hand them over, he then starts to fill up the car for me he then asks me if i want my water or tyre levels checking ;D this petrol staton was truley out of the 70's oldskool patina'd pumps, little service garage next door etc. even an oldskool service! like i said, ill get pics the next time I'm up there but ill definatly be going back even though it is a bit more expensive than everywhere else oh, its on the corner of green lane just before the blues ground in bordesly green - birmingham, if anyones interested, genuine 4 star is hard to get hold of these days

I'm pretty sure theres a website that lists all the garages still selling 4 star.
we found a garage like that in Rouen on our way to france. My mate needed fuel, and the chap did the lot for him. He had been blowing a bit of oil, so i had his bonnet up and was checking the levels. The guy comes running, opens the cap, gets some rags etc... I just stood back and watched, it was excellent. Places like that in england are so rare these days.

Theres a place like that near me. Sells 4 star leaded, comes out and fills the car up for you out of the 70s style pump.

99p a litre for 4 star is cheap. 2 years ago I was paying £1.15. You can still get genuine 4 star (in fact its better than the last of the 4 star, more like 5 star (showing my age!!)) Check out www.leadedpetrol.co.uk/I plan my journeys around 4 star and Optimax garages! John

I live by the A45 near sheldom. I used to drive a blue MK1 escort 2 door. Now I drive a MK1 mini, with another as a resto. Do you live by the swimming baths? I must admit I haven't seen your car about. I have seen that yellow allegro though!!

Perhaps it would be a good place for a Midlands meet?
Perhaps all RR meets should be at garages still selling 4star.

Likewise, the sainsburys near Edinburgh are selling that at 99p per litre, i used it once but i have a stack of lead replacement syringes so il stick with them for now.
