Holy arched Batmam!! Looks great mate, you have to do it!!;D The original plan was to hide as much of the goodies as possible and keep it close to original looks - that was up until I saw those arches on it ;D who needs breaks i'm sure you come up with some odd but very good braking system All I need are some discs and calipers that will fit behind the 14" Turbovecs- as far as i´m aware though all the 5 stud Vectras run 15´s. I´m sure i´ll sort something out.. Right i´m off out for a play, I think i´ll start getting those arches to fit ;D

Awesome project, the arches work so well on it Brake wise, I think most Vaux stuff is interchangable, so what about getting the discs turned down to mk2 Astra GTE dia and use GTE calipers? As for the gear linkage, how do VX220's stir the cogs? This is how a chap stuck a vaux lump on the boot of a mini details here www.16vminiclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18796

So reversing the linkage at the back probably won´t work for me.

Thanks for those pics mate, the problem I have is not just to get the linkage working in the boot but I need it to match the same engine/gearbox that´s going up front. So reversing the linkage at the back probably won´t work for me. That linkage works in the normal shift pattern (not reversed), so you would be able to connect a shaft going backwards and a shaft going forwards from the single shifter

Woooaaaaahhh This slipped under the radar. Will definately be watching with interest. Rapid work rate and good skills there chief ! Cheers mate ;D I´ve been playing around with different ideas where to put everything. This very rough sketch shows the layout The safest place for the tank will be in a seperate box on the passenger side floor with the filler neck going through the windscreen scuttle. The rear engine will be seperated from the rest with a bulkhead. Most of my thoughts have been going into how to get as much cold air in the back as possible and warm air back out. I´m not too sure if it´ll work but it could look something like this.. Using the Opel chassis legs as airducts will help and some cold air will be coming in via the new wheel arches. I´ll be using the original Vectra radiators so the front engine will be alright, to get the rear one down to temperature i´m planning on chopping out the floor (where the seat normally is) and making an airduct up to the radiator. I´m hoping that with an external oil cooler it should be enough to keep the temperatures down to a workable limit - it´s definately going to be a bit "trail and error" so when we start the electrics water and oil gauges are definetly going on the "to do" list

mental project , can remember VW making twin engined golf's in the 80's.Guess you'll have to protect the rear rad from being damaged from stones from the front wheels unless you put it behind the engine skoda style and vents in the tailgate?

Can you run both engines through one large rad at the front?
Or two smaller, deeper ones at the front?
Air cooled tatra v8 in the boot? :-)

That´s a good point Rob, i´ll have to watch out for that although the air intake for the rear rad will be coming out of the passenger side floor rather than from behind the front wheels - valid point though Can you run both engines through one large rad at the front? Or two smaller, deeper ones at the front? Air cooled tatra v8 in the boot? :-) Not a bad idea Tim, i won´t be worrying about the rear rad until the front engine is in. I´ve measured the front end and it´s going to be tight getting one Fiesta radiator in, let alone two V6 ones. I´m sure it´ll sort itself out once i´m up front

Yes mate search for me on the Mk1 Owners Forum. It got scrapped in the end and never finished. Shame really as it wouldnt have taken much more.... That´s a pity, i´ll pop over to the MKI Forum and have read ;D Here ´s the rest of the pics from yesterday... The Capri X Pack kit is in a bit of a state..... but i can´t complain as i only paid 1,50 Euro for the whole lot with all the excess cräp cut off i could then fit it to the car with the side bit on i didn´t like the look of the air intake - it´s just too small as i want it to look something like the Zakspeed Capri ones did... something like this.... so i made the hole a bit bigger. To get the proportions right the sills will need widening too, so i welded up a bit of box section as i need something to connect the rest to.. I´m not sure what you guys think but i definately like what i see ;D ;D Thanks for stopping by, Dave

Holy Moly!!
Dave, this is the coolest thing on the planet. By a long way.
Those arches look amazing, but it's the ingenious way your 'cobbling' them together that's so awe inspiring.
Simply awesome. Truly. ;D

Truly. ;D Thanks Bruce, the arches make all the difference don´t they..... My original plan was to throw in both engines, not worry about the finish too much and just have a blast.....but i think i´ll do it properly now and get it looking good ;D Good lord OB! Once again you knock together one of the most inspiring threads on here! Pure genius and great work! Rysz. Cheers Rysz, glad you like it ;D ....................................... Grinning like a fool here Dave. Amazing progress. Think I will stick with woodwork and cutting the grass. You´re not the only one grinning mate, i even caught myself just popping out into the garage just to have look inbetween I spent most of the day going from the "mocked up" stage to actually doing some fabrication and welding. First job was to get the airducting right before i close the wing off... This will hopefully direct the air through the wing into the rear engine bay.. I then butt welded the top of the arch - took me ages to weld and grind back as it´s over 4 foot long!! I then knocked up another deflector plate for the duct.. The sill will also help to direct air into the back...fingers crossed... i then basically welded it all together and pop rivetted the Capri arch into place.. definately chuffed with this pic ;D which leaves me with the back end to sort out. i´m in two minds whether to lengthen the boot to match the arches or cut off the arches to match the rear panel. What do you guys think? Cheers, Dave
