Absolutely fabulous work. The pace and grace with which you work is astounding. Who needs a spaceframe when the simple(er) solution is to use half of the doner car, obvious really

why didn't you tell me before ? My uncle had an accident with his 3.0 V6 Omega a couple of weeks ago and it got sold very cheaply ... I hated that car, but the engine was ok... I don't have to mention he bought another Omega B V6 Story of my life that ...never mind... sneek preview of tomorrows´ pics... Looks like i´ll be needing some new arches ;D 'LIKE A GLOVE................'

Nice project, but as far as I know , you need two of those engines to be sure to have one running at any time

Good work
Any thoughts on how to tackle the gear linkages? Or are these cable?
Street will be peed-off if you finish before him :-)

WOW, you really never disappoint, with every project I think you've peaked, how can you top the last project, and then every time you come back and make me pick my jaw up off the floor...

It's so nice to have an Oldbus project to read about again. keep the updates coming Thank you sir, much appreciated, update from yesterday on its way Absolutely fabulous work. The pace and grace with which you work is astounding. Who needs a spaceframe when the simple(er) solution is to use half of the doner car, obvious really ..it´s me just being lazy really. I started measuring and realised the quickest and easiest was was to use as much of the donor car as possible. The back bit i´ll build from scratch but as you can see it fit´s in there quite nicely... Story of my life that ...never mind... sneek preview of tomorrows´ pics... Looks like i´ll be needing some new arches ;D 'LIKE A GLOVE................' .....ish ;D Nice project, but as far as I know , you need two of those engines to be sure to have one running at any time that´s why i´m fitting two mate No seriously, I never was much of an Opel fan, at least not this modern stuff but the bits are readily available and more importantly they won´t cost me much but as soon as I break them they´ll be geting replaced with something "propper" Good work Any thoughts on how to tackle the gear linkages? Or are these cable? Street will be peed-off if you finish before him :-) That´s a very good question Tim. The linkages are plastic links with a bit of metal rod that goes through the bulkhead which are in turn connected up to another collection of complicated metal linkage. My first thought was to make up some rods and directly connect up the two gearshift mechanisms....forgive the crappy drawing.. the problem with this is that the Fiesta is lefthand drive and although the bit that goes around the engine would probably be ok, the drivers seat will be in the way. Going round the other way would probably not work as the leverage is too long... so i´m going to have to have a bit of a think about this one...answers on a postcard please to Oldbus Garages, Borgholzhausen, Germany ;D WOW, you really never disappoint, with every project I think you've peaked, how can you top the last project, and then every time you come back and make me pick my jaw up off the floor... A MAZE ING cheers mate, still not half as interesting as most of the stuff you´ve got hidden away ;D

Had a similar problem with squeezing a 2.0gsi motor into a fiat x19 took about 2 weeks of trial and error to get it right

good grief, you only live just downt the road from me! I'm in herford. small world eh? Herford, that town not too far away where the nice beer comes from ;D ;D Rollout on wednesday? ;D Bookmarked. Crazyness... ;D Not quite mate, still a long way to go I think i´ll go round to the local TÜV when it´s finished and ask them if i can have a historical engineers report....should be good for a laugh ;D Had a similar problem with squeezing a 2.0gsi motor into a fiat x19 took about 2 weeks of trial and error to get it right it´s going to be a lot of trail and error - 2 weeks sounds fair to me ;D oh and i agee with Mr. Hairnet, pics would be nice Convert it to right hand drive that might work definately one of the options if i can´t get it to work Awsome work, will be a monster! You seem to have put the subframe in the wrong way round though.. ;D ;D First job this afternoon was to lose the steering rack and weld everything up so that it goes in a straight line. DIY tracking aid the box section helped me line up the axle, it doesn´t need to be exact at this stage as i´ll have the tracking done properly once the front end is sorted. With the wheels pointing in the right direction and the gearlinkage and gearboxmount refitted i could start messing around with the rest. I shorted the original selector rod by about a foot, it took me a while but i can now get all gears, all i need now is a passenger in the boot everytime i drive it. ;D ;D I then got the welder going again, which wasn´t easy as it was 33 degrees in the garage this afternoon ... The brush handles show roughly where the gearstick joining rod has to go... The rear subframe is nearly finished, it´ll need a brace or two going from one side to the other but i´ll drop those in once the gearselector is sorted. Time to dig out the Capri "X Pack" kit that i´ve got hidden away methinks... ;D

Amazing. You make it look so straight forward.
Then i open my bonnet, see loads of things that i don't understand and get scared.
I'd love to have a go at something like this :-)

Looking good Dave, How about a 2 cable set up to operate the gearstick itself, then duplicate the brackets onto the front one. 2 sets of cable onto 1 gearstick mounted appropriately. MR2 or MGF cables for the rear and Punto? ones for the front? .................Or, knock something up out of old handbrake cables and wizards pocket fluff and use it attached to the front gearstick to move the rear gearstick by the same amount? Long rod operated shifts always feel a bit odd to me because of the weight of the bar itself, this being exaggerated by the huge crank in it to get round the engine. A tiny bit of slack in any linkage feels huge at the 'stick too.

I'd love to have a go at something like this :-) Go for it Tim, one step at a time Looking good Dave, How about a 2 cable set up to operate the gearstick itself, then duplicate the brackets onto the front one. A tiny bit of slack in any linkage feels huge at the 'stick too. Cheers mate, you´re probably right about the linkage Ian, my T25 worked fine (front gearstick -gearbox in the rear) but then the guys at Wolfsburg built it and not me ;D I´ll give it a try and if it doesn´t work i´ll start mucking around with cables and stuff. how much more wide is it at the back bubble, box or oldbus sculpt (tm) Funny you should ask... here´s todays effort definately not bubble.... and to hide the Turbovecs it´ll have to be a mix of box and Ford X Pack... only problem is there´s no room for the brake calipers ;D
